Chevrolet will dive into the subcompact sedan segment in India with its new model Essentia which will be based on Beat hatchback. Expected to be armed to the teeth, the cabin will get a host of features inside along with some vital safety provisions such as dual airbags, ABS as standard equipment.
Chevrolet Essentia Exterior
Based on Beat, the subcompact sedan is expected to take inputs from the sporty hatchback. Caught testing across India a couple of times post its unveiling at the 2016 Auto Expo, Essentia seems to have proportionate dimensions for a sub-four meter sedan. Although, nothing much is revealed about the car, but from what we know so far, the sedan is expected to get 165/65 R14 tyres.
Chevrolet Essentia Interior
Inside, the sedan will get a dual-tone colour theme and a bunch of features including a touchscreen with Chevrolet’s MyLink2 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the top-end variant.
Chevrolet Essentia Engine specification & Transmission
Under the hood, it will get a 1.2 litre petrol engine good for 77bhp and 107Nm torque. Diesel variants on the other hand will derive power from the 1.0 litre diesel engine making maximum power of 56bhp and 142.5Nm. Power will be transmitted to via a five-speed manual gearbox and there could be an auto box as well.
Chevrolet Essentia Competition
Based on Chevrolet’s popular B segment hatchback Beat, Essentia will rival strong players in the segment like Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire, Volkswagen Ameo and Hyundai Xcent.
Chevrolet Essentia Expected Price
The upcoming subcompact sedan from Chevrolet will be priced competitively. It is expected that Chevrolet could price the compact sedan between Rs 4.5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh.
Chevrolet Essentia Expected Launch
With a high level of localisation, Chevrolet plans to price Essentia aggressively between Rs 4.5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh and is likely to roll out the sedan first half of 2017.
