We were the first ones to reveal about Hyundai India's plans of launching the Xcent in the second week of March. And now the company has officially annouced to launch the Xcent on March 12th. The Xcent was put up on display at the recently concluded Indian Auto Expo, after its unveiling on February 4th.

Built on the company's popular Grand i10 hatchback's platfor, the Xcent is a sub-4 metre sedan, which will be pitched against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift and Honda Amaze. In terms of design, the Xcent looks similar to the Grand i10, except the additional boot given to the sedan. Inside the cabin as well, the Xcent looks identical to the hatchback.

Mechanically, both the hatchback and compact sedan will be same. The sedan too will be launched with the 1.2-litre Kappa2 petrol and 1.1-litre U2 diesel engines. And like we informed in our last report, the Xcent will come up with several first-in-segment features like rear AC vents, smart key with push button start, rear parking camera with sensors, 15 inches diamond cut alloy wheels, 2 DIN audio with USB, CD player with 1 GB internal memory, auto folding mirrors, electro-chromic mirror ad one-touch electric trunk opening. The Hyundai Xcent will also offer best-in-class boot space to its buyers. All the aforementioned features will give the Xcent a competitive edge over its rivals.
