Volkswagen Ameo Deliveries Commence Across India

Volkswagen India has finally commenced deliveries of its much awaited Ameo sub-compact sedan across the country.

Volkswagen India has finally commenced deliveries of its much awaited Ameo sub-compact sedan across the country. The German automaker's most affordable offering till date with a starting price of Rs. 5.14 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) was under development for quite sometime. The German sub-compact car finally hit series production on May 25 this year, followed by an extensive road show which included displaying the sub 4-metre sedan in different towns and metros pan India. Commenting on the occasion, Volkswagen Cars India Director, Michael Mayer said, “The Ameo has garnered positive response from the prospective customers ever since its debut at the Delhi Motor Show in February this year and its journey through key Indian cities. We are very happy to bring this Made in India and Made for India sedan to our customers now, as we initiate the deliveries." Volkswagen Ameo commenced series production at the Chakan plant in May this year The Ameo is expected to be volume seller for Volkswagen with a daily production capacity of 150 units every day out of the Chakan facility's total production capacity of 500. The company says to have invested Rs. 720 crore in the development of the sub-compact sedan, while the aggressive pricing has been possible thanks to the 82 per cent localisation achieved. Despite the competitive pricing, the Ameo is well loaded on features including cruise control, rain sensing wipers, anti-pinch power windows for front and rear; static cornering light, rear view camera with parking sensors, touchscreen infotainment system with Mirror Link, auto climate control, electrically adjustable ORVMs and a lot more. Available in 3 trims - Trendline, Comfortline and Highline, all variants on the Ameo get ABS and dual front airbags as standard. In addition, Volkswagen has also introduced special care packages for Ameo customers, which the company says will help ensure a positive ownership experience along with the best of technology, safety and various first in class features at an attractive price. The idea of the special package is to help lower the cost of ownership, while maintaining a more organised after sales and service schedule. The Volkswagen Ameo will get diesel and automatic variants later this year With the positive response recorded by Volkswagen, the company is looking to drive the same momentum in the upcoming festive season, when the company will introduce the diesel version of the Ameo powered by the updated 1.5-litre TDI motor, while a DSG equipped automatic variant is also on the cards.
