Nissan Micra is a well-equipped and good to drive B-segment hatchback. Offered with a 1.5-litre, inline diesel engine and 1.2-litre inline petrol engine option, the car runs well both on city streets and highways. Except the Micra AT, all other variants come boosted with a five speed manual transmission.
Nissan India’s only hatchback in its product portfolio, ‘Micra’ is available in petrol and diesel fuel options. Offered with a manual transmission initially, Nissan added a CVT unit to the petrol variants in 2015, while the diesel trims are still available with manual gearbox. The CVT variants are relatively more feature rich as compared to the manual trims that miss out on a couple of fitments. Micra is one of the various models replicated by Nissan’s global partner Renault under badge-engineering, which was eventually ceased due to low response from customers.

The recent facelift transformed Micra into a better version compared to the predecessor. Spruced up interior boast of piano black gloss trim around the centre console and the quality of material used inside has also improved.
Nissan Micra Engine Specifications & Transmission
Petrol range gets 1.2 litre, three pot engine generating 76bhp at 6000rpm and 104Nm at 4400rpm. Diesel variants draw power from the 1.5 litre, four cylinder unit making 63bhp at 4000rpm and 160Nm at 2000rpm.

Chrome garnish is visible on lower front radiator grille and around fog lamps. Rear side of the hatchback gets a wiper and fog lamps are available only on the range topping variant. On the inside, Micra features adjustable headrests in front and rear, a 12V power outlet, passenger seat back pocket and an upper glove-box.

The petrol variants mated to a CVT are claimed to return an impressive ARAI rated fuel economy of 19.34km/. Diesel manual variants on the other hand deliver 23.08km/l under standard conditions.

A 2 DIN audio with AM/FM, AUX-in, USB port is standard across variants. Speakers are present in front and rear and other high-end features like steering mounted audio and hands-free controls, hands-free Bluetooth are offered on the entire range.

Ventilated disc brakes are equipped in front and rear gets drum brakes for retarding speed. Suspension set up comprises McPherson Strut in front and Torsion Beam at rear.
Nissan Micra Safety & Security
Airbags are provided in front for driver and co-passenger on all trims. Anti-lock-braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist is missing only in the entry level diesel variant. Other important safety equipment aboard are driver armrest, immobilizer with alarm, central door locking, speed sensing auto door lock, follow me home lamps, driver seat belt warning indicator, dual horn among others.

Nissan has armed Micra with an array of comfort features including power steering with tilt function, drive computer, front power window with driver side auto up and anti-pinch, rear power window, automatic air conditioner, rear window defroster with timer, remote keyless entry, I-key with push button start, power adjusting and power folding ORVMs and height adjuster for driver’s seat.
