The newly launched KTM 390 Adventure is a highly awaited motorcycle globally and is the marks the brand's entry in the entry-level adventure tourer segment. The 2020 KTM 390 Adventure made its global debut at the EICMA Motorcycle Show in 2019 and made its India debut at India Bike Week the same year. The new 390 Adventure was launched in India recently and is priced at Rs. 2.99 lakh (ex-showroom India). It is offered in two colour options and is produced at Bajaj Auto's Chakan-based facility, near Pune, for India and the world.
The KTM 390 Adventure is based on the 390 Duke and uses the same Trellis frame with a subframe. The bike borrows heavily in terms of design from the larger KTM 790 Adventure. The bike gets an upright seating position with centre set foot pegs for a more comfortable riding stance over long distances. The motorcycle also gets the pincer-type LED headlamp along with tank extensions. There is a windscreen upfront and the bike gets a deflector. The seat is wider than the 390 for both the rider and pillion but stands tall at 858 mm. The model comes with knuckle guards, bash plate for the engine, and grab rails at the rear.
Power on the 2020 KTM 390 Adventure comes from the familiar 373 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that develops 42.3 bhp of power and 37 Nm of peak torque. The motor is paired with a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch and also gets the TFT instrument console. The bike comes with long travel USD front forks and a long-travel monoshock suspension at the rear. The braking power comes from 320 mm front and a 230 mm rear disc brakes with switchable dual-channel ABS and also gets traction control.
The fuel tank capacity stands at 14.5 litres, about a litre more than the 390 Duke. The 390 Adventure is about nine kilos more than the 390 Duke at 158 kg (dry). The bike rides on 17-inch alloy wheels at either end with dual-purpose tyres. The KTM 390 Adventure competes against a number of offerings including the BMW G 310 GS, as well as rhe Royal Enfield Himalayan.
