The new Maruti Suzuki XL6 is the second crossover model from Maruti Suzuki India, after the S-Cross. It’s a 6-seater model with captain seats in the middle row and two-seater bench at the third row, having a 2+2+2 layout. Maruti Suzuki XL6 comes with a fully re-designed front end, which is in line with the company's European design language. The grille is a new hexagonal unit, getting a chrome slat and the Suzuki logo at the centre. The grille is flanked by new aggressive-looking headlamps which have integrated LED daytime running lamps and indicators. The front bumper gets muscular lines, a wide central airdam, and thick black cladding that house the new fog lamps and skid plate. The rear gets same large, sweptback LED tail-lamps as the Ertiga but there are black inserts offering a sporty look. The rear bumper is new too and gets a silver skid plate adding to the glam quotient.
The Maruti Suzuki XL6 gets all black interiors, with premium stone finish and rich silver accents sweeping across the cabin. There's the slim wide instrument and there's also a leather wrapped flat bottom steering wheel with easy access controls and cruise control. The 3-row seating, with captain seats in 2nd row and reclining 3rd row seats. The third row passengers have ease of ingress and egress, thanks to one touch recline and slide mechanism on the 2nd row seats. Availability of ample utility spaces, such as ventilated cup holders, overhead console, accessory sockets in each row along with rear AC vents.
As far as features are concerned, the Maruti Suzuki XL6 will feature SmartPlay Studio infotainment system with smartphone connectivity. It is equipped with a host of safety features such as dual front airbags, ABS (Anti-lock-Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution), front seat belts with Pre-tensioners and Force Limiters, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, high speed warning alert, reverse parking sensors all of which are standard fitment across all variants. ESP (electronic stability program) with Hill Hold function is offered as a standard feature in automatic variants only.
The new XL6 gets Maruti's new BS6 compliant 1.5-litre K15 petrol motor with SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) technology, which was recently introduced in the new-gen Ertiga. The petrol will get a 4-speed automatic torque converter and a 5-speed manual. The K15 engine offers exceptional peak power of 103 bhp at 6000rpm and maximum torque of 138 Nm at 4400rpm. There is no diesel on offer for now but the company says that it will bring in the diesel if there's demand.

In terms of value and super-size, none can beat it. it remains unbeatable in its segment. This car is a compact one yet it comes off as a premium piece that you can’t resist. The targets of this car have been both individual and family, and it has come to a winner for both. Both these segments want a machine within budget but it should remain functionally superior. They are eyeing at something plush with all the add on tech features. They seek better and more powerful connectivity, and this car has it all. It’s good for all, including the discerning buyers, that the car has not been pulled unnecessarily into the SUV segment. It’s good the way it is; an MPV. The car has been so designed inside out that it looks like it has all the features of an SUV. The car is extra-large, plush, and a 6-seater. There are spruced up captain seats that are so glorious to look at. The car has been an XL6 due to its long wheelbase like other SUVs from Maruti stable.
This 6-seater has captain seats that are placed in the middle. There is a third row too which is a bench of course. The layout is that of 2+2+2. The front end of this car has been painstakingly redesigned that captures the essence and spirit of European design. The grille has been designed innovatively and it is hexagonal in the unit. There is a chrome slat with the logo of SUZUKI in the middle. The lamps in this car are really special. These are the giants flanking the midline and these look so aggressive. They have been loaded with a feature of LED daytime lamps. There are daytime indicators too at the flanks. The bumpers at the front feature some muscular looks with an air dam at the centre. The flashy foglamps are with black clads. These black clads house the fog lamps and the skid plate. The LED taillamps looked like sweptback. The black inserts give it a sporty appearance. It gives it the glamour. The hood has been made higher by a few inches. There are daytime LED lights. The bumpers are longer and they protrude out. This design gives the car an added dimension and a longish look compared to other cars. The car is on the heavier side compared to Ertiga.
The interiors are black and there is a stone finish. The cabin has a rich silver look that sweeps across the entire cabin. The instrument panel is wide and slim. The steering is leather-clad with a flat bottom. It has easy access to all the controls that you need while driving. There is easy cruise control. The sitting consists of 3 rows. The captain seats are in the 2nd row. The 3rd-row ones do recline. There are easy entry and exit from the 3rd row due to the arrangements of recline. There is plenty of scope for utility with cup holders, overhead consoles, accessory sockets in each row. There are AC vents too. The dashboard has a stone finish. It’s not like Ertiga. There is the touchscreen, instrument cluster along with a TFT info screen and climate control. There are cupholders in the front in which your drinks remain cool due to the AC air vent doing the job.
The XL6 has BS6 compliance and it has a 1.5-litre K15 petrol version. There is SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle) technology. The petrol version gives a torque of convertor at 4-speed automatic variant and there is a 5-speed manual type also. there is a powerful peak output power at 103 bhp that is at 6000 rpm. There is a max torque of 138 Nm at 4400 rpm. You will have a powerful drive experience with minimal bumps and jolts.
There are dual front airbags. There is one ABS also with EBD. There are front seat belts. There are pre-tensioners and force limiters. There is an ISOFIX child seat anchorage system. You will get a high-speed warning system and there is this reverse parking sensor. There is one Electronic stability program or ESP for the hill rides.
The ex-showroom price begins at 9.85 lakh that stretches up to 11.51 lakh. The top variant has an on-road price of 13.37 lakh. There are four variants of XL6 available.

There should have been a USB port instead of the power socket. It would have served much better to the passengers. The dropdown armrest of the second row is a plus but it is comfortably functional only at certain angles of the backrest.
