BMW X1 LWB Launched At Rs 49.90 Lakh

- X1 LWB offered with 1.5 turbo-petrol engine only
- Wheelbase stretched by 108 mm over standard X1
- 1.5 turbo-petrol makes 154 bhp and 230 Nm
BMW India has launched the X1 long wheelbase (LWB) in India with prices starting from Rs 49.90 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory). This makes the X1 LWB about Rs 1 lakh less expensive than the X1 petrol it replaces. The long-wheelbase derivative of BMW’s entry SUV is offered solely with a petrol engine for now, though it now makes more power than before.

In terms of looks, the biggest difference between the X1 and X1 LWB is the size. The LWB is 116 mm longer than its standard counterpart, with a wheelbase stretched by 108 mm. There are some minor differences as well, including new satin trim inserts on the sides and rear.

At the rear, meanwhile, legroom is up by a claimed 109 mm with the rear seats also getting some design tweaks to improve overall comfort.
On the feature front, the X1 LWB packs in tech such as wireless smartphone integration, a wireless charging pad, auto climate control with rear AC vents, a panoramic glass roof, drive modes, power adjustable front seats, a Harman Kardon sound system, 360-degree cameras and a reverse assistant.

On the powertrain front, the 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol mill has been retained, though it now makes additional power and torque. The unit now delivers 154 bhp - up 20 bhp - and 230 Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. For now, there is no diesel engine option.
