Car Sales February 2021: Maruti Suzuki India Registers 11.8% Growth In The Domestic Market

Maruti Suzuki India has released the sales numbers for the month of February 2021, during which the company's total domestic sales stood at 152,983 units, an 11.8 per cent growth compared to 136,849 vehicles the company sold during the same month in 2020. At the same time, compared to a month before in January 2021, when the company sold 148,307 units in India, Maruti Suzuki saw a 3 per cent Month-on-Month (M-o-M) growth. The company's exports for the month also went up nearly 12 per cent at 11,486 units, compared to 10,261 vehicles that were exported in February 2020. Last month, Maruti Suzuki India's exports also crossed the 2 million units mark.

Maruti Suzuki India's total sales for February 2021 stood at 164,469 units, 11.8 per cent more than the corresponding month last year when it recorded total sales of 147,110 vehicles. In the domestic market, sales of Maruti's entry-level models - Alto and S-Presso, were collectively down by nearly 13 per cent, at 23,959 units, compared to 27,499 units sold a year ago in February 2020. At the same time, sales of its subcompact cars, which includes hatchbacks like the Swift, Celerio, Ignis, WagonR and Baleno, along with the Dzire and Tour S subcompact sedans, collectively reached the 80,517 sales mark, a 15.3 per cent growth compared to 69,828 units sold during the same month last year.

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz witnessed a massive 40.6 per cent decline in monthly sales at 1,510 units

The company's compact sedan, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, again witnessed a slump last month with monthly sales of 1,510 units, a massive 40.6 per cent down from a year ago, in February 2020, when it stood at 2,544 units. At the same time the company's utility space, which has the Ertiga, Vitara Brezza, XL6, S-Cross and Gypsy, saw a healthy 19 per cent growth at 26,884 units in February 2021, while the Eeco van saw a 6 per cent growth at 11,891 units. The company collective passenger vehicle (PV) sales for last month stood at 144,761 units, an 8.3 per cent growth compared to the 133,702 PVs sold during February 2020.

In the commercial vehicles space, Maruti Suzuki India's Super Carry LCV accounted for 2,722 units in February 2021, seeing a massive 507 per cent growth compared to the 448 units sold during the same month last year.
