With the nation under lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak, businesses are suffering, especially the auto sector which has taken a major hit due to the unsold BS4 stock and no way to sell them before March 31. However, the Supreme Court offered some amount of relief by offering an extension of 10 days after the lockdown ends on April 14. Thus, to make the best of this lockdown period, automakers have started online pre-bookings. Tata Motors is a recent addition to this list, as the company opens online bookings for all its cars and is additionally also offering home delivery. This platform has been integrated with all Tata Motors dealers which number more than 750 across the country. The vehicle home delivery for online customers will happen at a later date.
Tata Motors recently released a video, clearly explaining the digital buying process on its website. Interested customers just need to visit the company's official website, select the car, the locality and preferred dealer and book it online. The token amount starts from ₹ 5,000 for the Tiago facelift, going all the way up to ₹ 30,000 for the 2020 Tata Harrier BS6. Once the booking is made, your preferred dealer will call you to begin the buying process. The sales consultant will guide you through best offers, price quotation, financing option, and even give you an estimate on an old car if you have a car to exchange. And everything will happen online over emails and video calls. Once the process is completed and you get a delivery date, you can either pick up the car from the dealership or get it delivered to your home.
As of now, customers can book models like - Tata Tiago, Altroz, Tigor, Nexon and the Harrier online, and all models come with a video brochure to help you decide which car to select. These are all BS6 compliant models, and of course, the registration and delivery process will begin after the lockdown ends, on April 14. In case you have already purchased a BS4 car, but couldn't get it registered due to the lockdown, then you can get it done after the lockdown period end, but before April 24, 2020.
