New spy photos of the Mahindra XUV700 Javelin Edition have surfaced online, and this time around we get to see both the special edition models. Earlier in September, Mahindra Group Chairman, Anand Mahindra had announced that the company will be presenting special edition Mahindra XUV700 SUVs to Neeraj Chopra and Sumit Antil, for their historic win at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, respectively. Both athletes bagged a gold medal for India in the javelin throw category of athletics. Now, the XUV700 Javelin Edition models, which will be presented to the two athletes, have been spotted together ahead of the official presentation.

Both SUVs come with a special gold motifs showing Neeraj Chopra and Sumit Antil gold medal-winning record

As seen in the previous spy photos, all the chrome elements on the exterior of the XUV700 have been replaced by gold inserts, including the new Mahindra logo. In addition to that, both SUVs will be seen with a special gold badging signifying the two athletes' victory at the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics. The XUV700 that will be presented to Neeraj Chopra, the motif shows a figure throwing a javelin and the number '87.58' (meters) signifying his gold medal-winning record. Similarly, the SUV that will be presented to Sumit Antil shows his gold medal-winning record of '68.55' (metre). While we do not get to see the cabin of the SUVs in these photos, based on previous spy photos, we know that the two aforementioned motifs will be seen inside the cabin as well, on the dashboard, embroidered in gold.

Now, both the SUVs appear to be based on the top-spec AX7 variant of the SUV, however, the engine and transmission details are unknown. This means the SUV will come with a tonne of smart features like - LED headlights with LED DRLs, LED taillamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, and roof rails. At the same time, inside, the SUV will get a touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster (both 10.25-inch units) with Mahindra's new AdrenoX connected car tech. The system also supports Alexa, and it comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and other features like - 12-speakers 3D surround sound system from Sony, 6-way power-adjustable seats with memory and panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistant System).

The Mahindra XUV700 is the new flagship SUV in the home-grown automaker's line-up, and the company recently announced the full pricing for the new SUV. Prices for the XUV700 start at Rs. 12.49 lakh, going up to Rs. 22.89 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The SUV comes with two engine options - a 2.0-litre GDI turbo petrol engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. Both come with the option for a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic torque converter unit. Anand Mahindra had also announced that para shooter Avani Lekhara, who won gold in the Women's 10 metres AR Standing SH1 Final, at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020, will receive a specially designed SUV customised for people with disabilities. A first of its kind from Mahindra.
