  • The Kamiq is the first model to get Skoda's new interior concept.
  • It will also get a 10.25-inch virtual cockpit as an option.

Skoda recently revealed the design sketch of the upcoming Kamiq compact SUV and now we get to see how it will look on the inside. The Kamiq debuts Skoda's new interior concept and the design of the cabin is something which we haven't seen so far in any other Skoda model. The dash sports a new freestanding touchscreen unit which is stacked atop the central console. The seats are wrapped in microfiber seat covers with the crystalline structure on the lumbar and the upholstery is finished with soft-touch materials. Skoda says that interiors have been designed keeping ergonomics a priority.

The Skoda Kamiq will also get a 10.25-inch virtual cockpit instrument display as optional which recently has also been added to the Skoda Kodiaq L&K variant. Moreover, it will get some first-in-segment features such as ambient lighting, heating for the windscreen, rear seats and steering wheel and electric adjust for the seats.

The Skoda Kamiq will debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.

The Skoda Kamiq is built on the MQB-AO platform which will also underpin all Skoda and Volkswagen models in India which will measure less than 4.5 metres in length. It has a wheelbase of 2,651 mm and the car offers 73mm of legroom at the back. The boot volume is 400 litres which can be increased to 1,395 litres with the rear seat backrests folded down. The Skoda Kamiq will be an urban SUV which is primarily aimed at the European markets and is expected to make its way to our market sometime in 2020. It will be rivaling the likes of the Hyundai Creta in India which has been the top-runner of the compact SUV segment for quite some time.

Globally, the Skoda Kamiq will be available with a range of drivetrains including three petrol engine options and two diesel options. At present, we don't have any word on the drivetrains which will be offered in the Indian market. However, we expect the 1.5-litre petrol motor and the 1.5-litre diesel engine to be a part of the India line-up as they are also likely to be seen on the upcoming Skoda Scala sedan. The Skoda Kamiq will debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.
