Royal Enfield has reported overall motorcycle sales of 43,048 units in June 2021, registering 13 per cent growth over 38,065 motorcycles sold in June 2020. Royal Enfield continues to demonstrate strong growth in overseas markets, with overall export numbers accounting for 7,233 units in June 2021, recording a whopping 365 per cent growth over 1,555 units Royal Enfield had exported in June 2020. However, Royal Enfield's sales performance in the domestic market continues to remain under pressure, owing to restrictions in many regions around the country.

In all, Royal Enfield managed to despatch just 35,815 motorcycles in the domestic market in June 2021, compared to 36,510 motorcycles in the same month a year ago. Comparatively though, Royal Enfield's sales numbers show significant improvement in the first quarter of 2021, as against the same period a year ago. During April to June 2020, in the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, Royal Enfield managed to sell just 57,269 motorcycles, while in the same period in 2021, Royal Enfield managed to despatch 1,23,640 motorcycles, recording 116 per cent growth.

In the first three months of the current financial year (April to June 2021), Royal Enfield's sales in the domestic market grew by 91 per cent to 1,04,677 units, from 54,939 motorcycles in the same period a year ago. The silver lining is that Royal Enfield continues to demonstrate strong growth in overseas markets, as the brand strives to establish leadership position in the global mid-size motorcycle segment. Overall exports during April to June 2021 accounted for 18,963 units, a massive growth of 714 per cent over just 2,330 units exported in the same period a year ago.

Internationally, the company now has more than 130 exclusive stores, and a retail footprint of over 760 stores in more than 60 countries. Last year saw Royal Enfield foray into new markets such as Japan, Cambodia, Costa Rica, and Dominican Republic. The company also launched its first CKD unit (completely knocked down), in Buenos Aires, Argentina during the year. The new Royal Enfield Meteor 350, which was launched in 2020, has since been launched across Europe, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, Japan, North America and Europe, underscoring Royal Enfield's global ambitions going forward.
