2021 Citroen C5 Aircross
The 2021 Citroen C5 Aircross will be the first product to be launched by the French carmaker in India, and it will be locally assembled at the company's plant in Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu. Citroen India has already begun commercial production of the SUV, and the first car was rolled out towards the end of January 2021.
2021 Citroen C5 AirCross SUV will be offered in two variants - Feel and Shine, and interestingly except for a few, all features and creature comforts available, are standard with both trims. The SUV also gets a set of 18-inch 'SWIRL' two-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels as standard.
The new Citroen C5 Aircross gets a quirky design language that sets it apart from most of the competition. Only the Shine variant of the SUV comes with LED projector headlamps while the Feel trim gets halogen units. Both get LED daytime running lamps.
The SUV will be offered in four single tone shades - Pearl White, Cumulus Grey, Tijuca Blue, and Perla Nera Black, along with dual-tone black roof option for the former three, bringing the total to 7 colour options.
Inside, the SUV gets a well-laid-out cabin designed with the use of premium soft-touch material, treated in Metropolitan Grey interior trim. The dashboard features an 8-Inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a 6-speaker audio system.
The cabin also gets a 12.3 Inch customisable TFT instrument display with gear shift indicator
Both variants come with Metropolitan Grey interior, with the choice of two upholstery trims - Grey Grained Leather and Graphite Cloth with Advanced Comfort Seats. The Citroen C5 Aircross also gets 3 separate rear seats with individual 3-point seat belts for all three passengers.
In terms of luggage space, with all the rear seats up and slid back, the SUV offers a 580-litre boot space, which can be increased to 72 litres by sliding the rear seat forward. The rear seats can also be folded entirely to create a total luggage space of 1630 litres. The top-spec Shine trim also gets hands-free electric tailgate function.
In terms of dimensions, the new C5 AirCross measures 4500 mm in length, 2099 mm in width and 1710 mm in height. The new 5-seater SUV also comes with a wheelbase of 2730 mm.
The new Citroen C5 AirCross will get a 2.0-litre diesel engine as standard. The 1997 cc, the four-cylinder oil burner is tuned to churn out 174 bhp at 3750 rpm, and it develops a peak torque of 400 Nm at 2000 rpm. The engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic torque converter unit as standard, and it is claimed to offer a fuel efficiency of 18.6 kmpl.
In terms of safety features, the C5 Aircross gets 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, Traction Control, and Blind Spot Information System (BLIS). The SUV also gets Electric Parking Brake, Front & Rear Parking Sensors, reverse camera, and ISOFIX mounts.
