MG Hector Plus
The new MG Hector Plus is the 6-seater version of Morris Garages' popular compact SUV Hector, and it's the first 3-row SUV to be launched by the company in India. The Hector Plus made its debut at the 2020 Auto Expo and compared to its 5-seater sibling, the SUV comes with some cosmetic changes and a few new features. However, it retains everything else that the latter offers, including the engines.
The MG Hector Plus gets a new face with a more stylish, glossy black grille, flanked by a pair of new LED daytime running lamps. Also, the heavily cladded chrome bumper has been replaced with a body-coloured one, featuring a larger airdam, and a new silver skid plate.
The Hector Plus also comes with a pair of revised headlamps with new LED projector units instead of the twin-port full-LED lights offered with the regular Hector. It also gets new floating indicators.
Compared to its 5-seater sibling, the new Hector Plus is 65 mm longer, that can be credited to the larger overhangs. However, the wheelbase remains unchanged, and so do the 17-inch dual tone alloy wheels, which still look too small for the SUV's size.
The MG Hector Plus also comes with a slightly updated rear section with a new rear bumper with faux skid plate and chrome elements on either ends. The SUV also gets the 'Hector Plus' and 'Internet Inside' badging on the tailgate.
The highlight of the new Hector Plus is, of course, the new Captain Seats for the second row, which are draped in new smoked sepia brown leather upholstery. The cabin also comes with rear AC vents for both second and third rows.
While the basic design of the dashboard remains largely unchanged, the Hector Plus comes with the addition of new silver accents, along with soft-touch leather panels that match the smoked sepia brown colour of the upholstery.
The third row seats can be completely folded to get a larger luggage area. The SUV also comes with the segment-first smart swipe function, which allows you to open the tailgate by simply swiping your foot under the bumper.
The MG Hector Plus gets premium leather interior that adds an upmarket feel to the SUV. The central armrest here is draped in black leather with contrast white stitching, and storage compartment for your wallet and other essentials.
The Hector Plus also gets the 10.4-inch HD touchscreen unit, along with an 8-speaker sound system, and MG's iSmart technology with over 55 connected car features, in addition to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The MG Hector Plus also comes with a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System as part of the safety package. The system displays the air pressure and temperature of all four tyres on the MID unit of the instrument cluster.
The MG Hector Plus also comes with ambient lighting with 8 colour options, along with other features like electronic parking brake, hill hold control, rear disc brakes and more.
The Hector Plus gets 3 engine options - a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol, a 1.5-litre petrol hybrid, and the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine. While the turbo-petrol engine comes with a DCT automatic transmission, the hybrid and the diesel versions get a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard.
The new Hector Plus SUV comes in 4 variants - Style, Super, Smart and Sharp and is offered in 6 colour options - Starry Blue, Glaze Red, Starry Black, Burgundy Red, Candy White & Aurora Silver. It's priced from Rs. 13.48 lakh to Rs. 18.53 lakh (ex-showroom India).
