Kia EV5 Electric SUV Spied Ahead of Debut

Kia's upcoming mid-sized electric SUV, the EV5, has been spotted in spy photos ahead of its anticipated debut at the Chengdu Motor Show.
EV5’s Design Inspired by the Concept
The spy shots show that the EV5's design is largely inspired by the concept version that was initially showcased in March of 2023. The SUV has a boxy exterior with a sloping roofline and prominent fenders.
EV5 to be Built on E-GMP Platform
The EV5 will be built on the same E-GMP platform as the other EVs in brand’s EV lineup, including the EV6 and EV9. This platform allows for a long wheelbase and short overhangs, which could provide the EV5 with a spacious interior and good handling.
EV5 to Feature Rear-Hinged Doors
The EV5 concept featured rear-hinged doors, but it is unclear if this feature will make it to the production version. The spy photos show that the EV5 has conventional doors, but it is possible that Kia could change the design before the SUV's debut.
The Kia EV5 is scheduled to debut at the Chengdu Motor Show in August 2023. The SUV is expected to go on sale in the United States in early 2024.
