Eddy Electric Series
brought out this pioneering model called the
Lovebird
in
1993
. It was also shown at the
Auto Expo in New Delhi
While the Government approved it for manufacturing, it was eventually discontinued due to
poor sales volumes
Eddy Current Controls, an Indian brand, conceptualized and developed this electric car as a collaboration with Yuskawa Electric Mfg. Co. from Tokyo
The car was produced at
Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu and Chalakudy at Kerala
. It had a DC motor with a portable and rechargeable battery
