We recently interviewed River co-founder Aravind Mani, who gave interesting insights about the EV maker's future plans that includes expanding production and details of an upcoming model.
He confirmed that the company's second offering will be a scooter in the mould of the indie, but not just a derivative of the indie, and it will be placed in a different segment. Like the indie, the new electric scooter will also be in the utility-lifestyle category.
Aravind hinted bat its potential launch by around March 2026 when River plans to hit the 100-stores landmark across India.
River is working on expanding its presence in key cities in northern, western and central India in the next five months.
The EV maker presently rolls out 2,000 units of the Indie every month from its factory on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The start-up is in talks with a few states in South India for its new facility, which will boost its annual capacity to well over 1.5 Lakh units.
By September, River plans to open 10 outlets across Maharashtra and Gujarat, five outlets across Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, delhi, Rajasthan and Punjab, and four outlets across Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Bihar. By the end of FY26, it intends to open more outlets in these states, as well as in Jharkhand and Assam, to take its total networks tally to over 100 outlets.
