The new Maruti SUV has already received a full score in BNCAP crash tests even before its launch, & has secured the highest-ever numbers for a Maruti Suzuki car.
It got a full 5-star rating in Bharat NCAP’s tests. Its adult occupant protection (AOP) score stood at 31.66 out of 32, while the child occupant (COP) score was 43 out of 49: both highest-ever for a Maruti Suzuki car.
It scored well in crash tests, with good protection for most areas & adequate safety for the driver’s chest & legs in the front offset test. Side impact & pole tests also earned goodratings.
Only the ZXI+ & ZXI+(O) variants of both the strong-hybrid & petrol-AT were tested, but BNCAP’s report says the safety rating will be applicable across the variant lineup due to its strong standard safety net.
The SUV’s standard safety kit includes 6 airbags, electronic stability control, 3-pointseatbelts, & ABS with EBD.
It borrows engines from the Grand Vitara, offering a 1.5L petrol with 6-speed MT/AT (&optional AWD), & a 1.5L strong hybrid with an e-CVT automatic. There’s an optional CNG powertrain on offer too.
