While sales of compact sedans have declined year-on-year, the Volkswagen Virtus has created a separate demand for itself in this hugely contested space
The Virtus has become the best-selling compact sedan in the first 7 months of 2025 with12,455 units sold. It now looks set to become the best-selling sedan for the second consecutive year.
Its year-on-year sales have grown by 9 per cent, as Volkswagen had dispatched 11,572units of the sedan during the same period in 2024
VW’s strong sales are partly driven by pricing, with the sedan offered all year with discounts and benefits worth up to ₹1.5 lakh, depending on the variant.
The Slavia’s sales during Jan-July 2025 stood at 7,901 units, while the carmaker had shipped 8,443 units of the sedan during the same period in 2024
The VW Virtus is sold in two model lines – Sport & Chrome – with distinct styling touches like black alloys on the Sport. Both offer 1.0 TSI & 1.5 TSI turbo-petrol engines with manual &automatic gearbox options
