The much awaited waited Bajaj Pulsar CS400 will be finally launched in August this year. As per latest reports. the new was confirmed by Bajaj Auto, CEO, Rajiv Bajaj at the company's Annual General Meeting (AGM) and falls in line with the company's earlier announcement of introducing the performance motorcycle in the third quarter of the calendar. An official announcement is still awaited from the manufacturer.

The Bajaj Pulsar CS400 marks the company's foray into the entry-level performance space. Having started life as a concept at the 2014 Auto Expo, the Cruiser Sport 400 is by far the highest displacement offering to come from the company and can be categorised as a performance cruiser. Having been spotted on a number of occasions during the past months, the Pulsar CS400 shares its underpinnings with the KTM Duke 390 and will also draw power from the same 373.2cc single-cylinder engine.

The motor however, will be de-tuned compared to the KTM, churning out around 35-38bhp of power, while torque output can be expected in the vicinity of 33-35Nm. A 6-speed gearbox will be sending power to the rear wheel. Previous spy shots have shown that the Pulsar CS400 will come with telescopic front forks, a monoshock suspension, front and rear disc brakes as well as dual-channel ABS as part of the equipment list. The ABS system is likely to be optional, in a bid to keep the asking price low.

Right from the concept, the styling on the Bajaj Pulsar CS400 was one of the talking points of the model and a lot of the same has been retained on the production spec version as well. The Ducati Diavel inspired design looks rather good with the LED tail light, single seat, bulbous fuel tank and compact headlight cluster with LED DRLs. The CS400 will also get a side mounted exhaust, unlike the Duke 390's underbelly unit while an all-digital instrument console will showcase the vital information complemented by a LCD display unit on the fuel tank.

Unlike the KTM Duke 390, the Bajaj Pulsar CS400 will be built to a cost and that will evidently show in the final asking price. So expect the CS400 to carry a highly competitive price tag, undercutting the Duke as well and is expected to be in the vicinity of Rs. 1.50-1.80 lakh (ex-showroom). This puts the models right between the likes of the KTM Duke 200, Benelli TNT 250, Mahindra Mojo among others. However, a competitive price tag and wider pan India reach over the brands is expected to make way for Cruiser Sport. Make sure to keep watching this space as we bring you more details on the model.
