SsangYong, the Korean carmaker owned by Mahindra & Mahindra has now rolled out its flagship SUV Rexto's new model called the RX6 in India. Positioned between Rexton's two existing variants - RX5 and RX7, the new RX6 is priced at Rs 19.96 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Rexton RX6 carries the same 2.7-litre diesel engine that also powers the other two variants. Transmitting power to the wheel is a five-speed manual transmission box. Though this variant doesn't offer a 4x4 drive layout, it has intelligent 4x4 Torque on Demand (TOD) system.  Other high-end features offered with the car are electronic stability program (ESP), active rollover protection, hill descent control, side airbags etc.

The objective behind launching this variant is to offer a range of options to its buyers at different price points, says Mahindra. M&M and SsangYong are jointly working on a family of six engines and new models both for the Indian and Korean market.

The company that has claimed to be selling around 2,000 vehicles a month in India during the last financial year, expects the new variant to generate more volume for them.
