Porsche India has launched the new generation Cayenne and the SUV will be available in four versions - the Cayenne Diesel, Cayenne S Diesel, Cayenne S and the Cayenne Turbo. The people at Porsche call it a luxury SUV with sports car credentials and it is that but the new one gets some more.

The new Cayenne gets more power and there is no compromise on fuel efficiency. The diesel versions of the new Cayenne come powered by three-litre V6 engine in the Cayenne Diesel produces 245bhp and has a fuel consumption of 7.7 l/100 km. It is capable of accelerating from zero to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds (7.5 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package), and has a top speed of 218 km/h.

The 4.2-litre V8 engine of the Cayenne S Diesel produces 385bhp and delivers a torque of 850 Newton metres. From a standstill, it reaches 100 km/h in only 5.4 seconds (5.3 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package). Its top speed is 252 km/h with fuel consumption of 8.0 l/100 km.

Then there is the all-new 3.6-litre V6 bi-turbo engine of the Cayenne S which has been fully developed by Porsche returns fuel consumption between 9.5 and 9.8 l/100 km - one litre less than with the previous V8 engine. The bi-turbo V6 develops a maximum power of 420hp at 6,000 rpm - a gain of 20 bhp.

With its standard eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission, the Cayenne S accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds (5.4 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package) - 0.4 seconds faster than the previous Cayenne S while the top speed is 259 km/h.

Leading the model field is the Cayenne Turbo, powered by a 4.8-litre bi-turbo V8 engine that produces 520bhp. This lets the Cayenne Turbo accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in a mere 4.5 seconds (4.4 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package). Its top speed is 279 km/h.

Anil Reddi, Director, Porsche India, says: "The new Porsche Cayenne embodies the ultimate Porsche traits, class-leading performance and outstanding driveability. No matter the road conditions, the new Cayenne delivers a unique automotive experience and we expect our customers to share in the excitement around this thrilling evolution."

The new Cayenne gets a newly shaped front body, front wings, bonnet and air blades are also newly shaped. It also gets bi-xenon headlights and four-point LED daytime running lights. The new layout of the model's rear lights creates a three-dimensional effect with the brake lights designed in four elements. The license plate, boot handle and lights are now integrated more elegantly into the boot lid. In addition to other modifications, the newly developed exhaust tailpipes are now incorporated in the lower rear section, while an automatically activating boot lid is fitted as standard.
