The Yamaha MT-07 is a naked streetfighter motorcycle and it is built around the same frame and engine as the YZF R7. It is already on sale in international markets and could be launched in India in the near future. Both motorcycles, the R7 and the MT-07 share the same powertrain which is a 689 cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin mill with a cross-plane crank that is capable of pumping out 73 bhp at 8,750 rpm and 67 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
The Yamaha MT-07, being a naked street, features a flat wide handlebar with an aggressive stance and has a 184 kg kerb weight. The bike gets a diamond-type chassis. For cycle parts, the MT-07 gets a telescopic fork setup and a monoshock at the rear.
The list of features include a 5-inch TFT screen, Bluetooth connectivity, dual-channel ABS and a slipper clutch. Expect Yamaha to offer a bi-directional quick-shifter as an option. In terms of braking, the MT-07 gets twin 298 mm discs up front and a 245 mm disc at the rear. The bike gets 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends, with Michelin Road 5 rubber.
