In 2023, Cadillac will contest the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the FIA World Endurance Championship, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Codeveloped by Cadillac Design, Cadillac Racing, and Dallara, the Project GTP Hypercar has elements of the brand's heritage such as vertical lighting and floating blades. Rory Harvey, Vice President, Cadillac Group said, “Cadillac will be competing again on the world racing stage, and we are all thrilled to return to Le Mans after 20 years. By competing in both the 2023 IMSA and WEC championships, Cadillac Racing has the opportunity to demonstrate its capability, craftsmanship, and technology.”

Styling is typically Cadillac and takes several design cues from present Cadillac vehicles such as the CT4-V and CT5-V sport sedans, Escalade-V as well as the track-capable CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing. Following the rules of IMSA, the Cadillac Project GTP Hypercar has tons of sharp edges and looks quite aggressive, almost like Batman's Batmobile. It is wider than the current generation of DPi top-class race cars with vertical headlights and taillights. Almost all the elements are made in carbon fibre, especially on the front splitter, side sills, engine cover, and rear diffuser.
