Produced from 1976 to 1978, the Lotus Espirit S1 was a 2-door sports car based on the ´folded paper´ design by its designer Giorgetto Giugiaro. Though the car's futuristic design was its main USP, it gained its fame after it got featured in the 1977 James Bond movie ‘The Spy Who Loved Me'. Though the car in the movie had the ability to convert into a submarine, the car found on the road was powered by a 2L inline-4 engine producing 160 BHP of power. The Lotus managed to maintain its sports car status despite the modest engine owing to the company's obsession with weight saving.

Marking their 50 years partnership with the James Bond movie franchise, Aston Martin decided to design, develop and manufacture a car just to be featured in the James Bond movie. The car was unveiled by the director and producer of the 2015 movie ‘Spectre' by the end of 2014. The DB10 was a 2-door Grand Tourer based on the Aston Martin VH platform. It was a true James Bond car since no road legal version of the same was made available by the company. The company justified this move by claiming the DB10 as a glimpse at the future design direction for Aston Martin.
