What's New?

The Suzuki GSX-8R is the new middleweight sportbike from Suzuki Motorcycles, based on the same 776 cc, parallel-twin platform which has three models in Suzuki’s global portfolio, the Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE adventure bike, the Suzuki GSX-8S naked street bike, as well as the full-faired Suzuki GSX-8R.

The GSX-8R was unveiled globally at EICMA 2023 and shares the same mechanical components as its 8S counterpart, differing primarily in appearance. It maintains the stacked headlamp setup seen in the 8S, but with a redesigned headlamp cowl now integrated into a fairing that partially covers the engine. The rearview mirrors, previously mounted on the handlebars of the 8S, are now situated on the fairing of the 8R. Additionally, the twin LED daytime running lamps of the 8S are replaced by a single eyebrow-style unit positioned above the stacked headlamps. At the rear, the 8R retains the partially exposed frame design of the 8S but features a two-piece stop lamp compared to the single stop lamp of the 8S.

Beneath its exterior, the 8R boasts the same powerful engine as the 8S and the 800DE: a 776 cc, DOHC, liquid-cooled parallel twin. This engine configuration includes a 270-degree crankshaft and Suzuki's Cross Balancer Shaft. It delivers 82 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 78 Nm of peak torque at 6,800 rpm. Paired with a 6-speed gearbox equipped with an up-and-down quickshifter, it offers smooth and responsive performance.

Additionally, the bike is packed with advanced riding aids, including selectable ride modes, traction control, an easy start system, and low RPM assist. Unlike the GSX-8S, which globally features KYB USD fork and mono-shock, the 8R (similar to the 800DE) utilizes Showa suspension units. For braking, the 8R is equipped with twin 310 mm discs with four-piston calipers at the front and a 240 mm disc with a single-piston caliper at the rear, ensuring reliable stopping power in various riding conditions.

Other Upcoming Suzuki Models are the V-Strom 800 DE, SV 650, V-Strom 1050 and GSX-R1000R
