Tiguan will succeed into second generation, while the first generation version was rumoured to be launched in India but it could not be materialized. Safety features likely to be employed in the SUV are Front Assist City Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Monitoring, Lane Assist, Automatic Post-Collision Braking System among others.

Underpinning Volkswagen’s versatile MQB platform which will also be the base for upcoming cars like new Passat and Octavia, the SUV will measure 60mm longer, 33mm lower and 30mm wider than the outgoing version. Even the wheelbase has been upped by 77mm measuring 2,681mm. Volkswagen claims new Tiguan to be 50 kgs lighter than the current gen model.

With changes made to the wheelbase, space inside the cabin for occupants will be substantial. As per Volkswagen’s claim the knee room at rear is up by 29mm and boot capacity has also been increased by 145 litres measuring 615 litres. A five-inch monochrome touchscreen is expected to be seen in the entry level variant, whereas the high-end trims could get an 8-inch display with support navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, MirrorLink etc.
