    Established in 2007, Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd is a part of Volkswagen India Group, headquartered in Pune. The Volkswagen India Group delineates five luxury brands including Audi, Skoda, Lamborghini and Porsche.  Volkswagen India’s manufacturing plant is located in Chakan, Maharashtra which has an annual production capacity of 200,000 units.  Spread across 575 acres, VW invested Rs 3800 crores in building the state-of-the-art manufacturing unit.

    In January 2015, Volkswagen India inaugurated its engine unit at Chakan, Pune where Volkswagen’s new 1.5 litre diesel engines are produced.  In 2010, the two most popular Volkswagen cars-Polo and Vento were launched in Indian market. The peppy Beetle model was phased out in 2013, which was later re-launched in India. Introduced in 2008, Jetta saloon continues to be a part of VW’s product range and is assembled at its manufacturing unit in Chakan along with Passat.

    Volkswagen Virtus offers a refined driving experience with smooth engine performance and a well-built cabin. The boot space is generous, and the suspension handles road imperfections well. Safety features like airbags are a big plus, and it’s an overall comfortable car for city and highway drives. Though the fuel efficiency is decent, it’s not class-leading.
