Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Expert Review
Pros
- Affordable pricing starting at Rs 1.50 lakh, making it the most accessible Royal Enfield
- Compact and lightweight design, offering excellent agility and ease of handling in city traffic
- Retro-inspired design with modern touches, including alloy wheels and dual-channel ABS
Cons
- Halogen headlight and bulb-type indicators may feel outdated compared to competitors' LED setups
- Lacks outright acceleration and high-rev performance; best suited for relaxed riding
- Slight vibrations at higher speeds may affect comfort on long rides
The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 offers a fun, agile, and affordable entry into the world of Royal Enfield. It’s ideal for new riders or those upgrading from smaller bikes, thanks to its light weight, flickability, and accessible price point. While it may lack some modern features and raw power, its retro charm, nimble handling, and overall practicality make it a strong contender for city riding and occasional touring. A great option for those seeking a blend of style, heritage, and urban practicality.
The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is the most affordable and accessible Royal Enfield motorcycle, designed to attract new riders into the brand. Starting at ₹1.50 lakh (ex-showroom), it offers an appealing mix of compact design, lightweight agility, and the signature Royal Enfield charm. Built on the J-series 350 cc platform, the Hunter 350 targets younger and urban riders who want a stylish yet practical motorcycle for daily commutes and weekend fun rides.
The Hunter 350 stands out with its compact and sporty design. It carries a retro-inspired silhouette, featuring a round headlamp and a short tail section, giving it a modern yet classic appeal. Unlike its heavier siblings, the Hunter 350 is 14 kg lighter than the Classic 350, making it more approachable for newer riders. The smaller 17-inch wheels, shorter wheelbase of 1370 mm, and low seat height of 790 mm contribute to its agile and nimble handling.
Offered in six color schemes across two variants, Dapper and Rebel, the Hunter 350 provides a lot of personalization options. The top-spec Metro variant comes with alloy wheels, dual-channel ABS, and LED taillights, while the base Retro variant has more basic features like wire-spoke wheels and single-channel ABS
Powered by the same 349 cc J-series engine found in the Classic 350 and Meteor 350, the Hunter 350 produces 20.2 bhp at 6100 rpm and 27 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. The engine is remapped for the Hunter, providing a crisper throttle response and a more youthful riding experience. Although the power figures remain the same, the engine feels more eager, especially when navigating urban traffic. The stubby exhaust note adds a lively character to the bike.
While the Hunter 350 isn't built for high-speed performance, it offers ample torque at low and mid-range RPMs, making it ideal for city rides. The bike comfortably cruises at 70-80 km/h, and can reach 110-115 km/h without feeling strained. However, vibrations start to creep in beyond 90 km/h, especially in the footpegs and seat, but they aren’t significant enough to dampen the overall experience
The Hunter 350 shines in terms of handling and agility. The compact size, lightweight of 181 kg, and sharp steering geometry make it one of the most flickable motorcycles in the Royal Enfield lineup. The rear-set footpegs, wide handlebars, and sportier rider triangle give it a more aggressive stance compared to its siblings, making it perfect for weaving through city traffic.
On a go-kart track, the Hunter 350 impresses with its handling, offering a fun and engaging ride. The Ceat Zoom XL tires provide decent grip for everyday riding, although stickier rubber would further improve its cornering ability. The dual-channel ABS adds confidence during hard braking, ensuring stable stops
Despite its sporty design, the Hunter 350 remains a comfortable motorcycle for daily use. The low seat height and upright riding posture make it accessible to a wide range of riders. The single-piece seat offers adequate padding for both the rider and pillion, though the compact size might feel slightly cramped for taller riders over long distances.
The suspension setup—telescopic forks at the front and twin shocks at the rear—strikes a good balance between comfort and agility. The bike handles bumps and rough patches with ease, making it suitable for both city streets and occasional highway trips.
The Hunter 350 features a single-pod instrument console with a small digital screen displaying essential information like speed, fuel level, and trip meters. The Tripper navigation pod, available as an optional extra, offers turn-by-turn navigation via Bluetooth. Additionally, the bike comes with a USB charging point for added convenience on the go.
While the tech features are basic compared to modern bikes, they cover the essentials for a fun and hassle-free ride. The build quality is commendable, with attention to detail in fit and finish, giving the Hunter a premium feel despite its affordable price
The Hunter 350 offers impressive fuel efficiency for a 350 cc bike. Riders can expect a mileage of around 35-40 kmpl, making it a practical option for daily commuting as well as weekend rides. Combined with its 13-liter fuel tank, the bike offers a decent range of approximately 400-450 kilometers, depending on riding conditions.
With a starting price of ₹1.50 lakh, the Hunter 350 provides excellent value for money, especially considering its modern design, solid performance, and the iconic Royal Enfield brand name. It is positioned as a more affordable and accessible option for those who might find the Classic 350 too bulky or traditional. The pricing sweetens the deal, making it attractive to new and young riders who want a stylish, reliable, and fun motorcycle.
Royal Enfield has a strong after-sales service network across India, ensuring that maintenance and spare parts are easily accessible for Hunter 350 owners. The company’s reputation for affordable servicing and readily available parts makes the Hunter 350 a practical choice for long-term ownership.
The Hunter 350 competes with models like the TVS Ronin, Honda CB350RS, and Jawa 42. While the TVS Ronin offers more modern features, the Hunter 350 stands out with its retro-modern design and stronger brand appeal. The Honda CB350RS is known for its refinement, but the Hunter’s pricing and youthful character make it a more accessible option for younger riders.
The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 successfully bridges the gap between classic retro design and modern performance. Its lightweight, agile handling, and attractive pricing make it a perfect entry point for riders looking to join the Royal Enfield family. With its stylish looks, comfortable ergonomics, and refined performance, the Hunter 350 is set to become a popular choice among both new and experienced riders.

The Hunter 350 comes with modern features like gear indicator and tripmeter count, but the maintenance cost is on the higher side. The engine performance is solid, and the bike is comfortable, but be prepared for higher service expenses. Sab k liye nahi hai only for bike lover.
