car&bike Expert Take
“The Royal Enfield Bullet 350 is best suited to riders who value heritage, steady torque delivery and long-distance comfort over outright speed or modern electronics. It is not built for performance-focused riders or those seeking advanced technology features. Its standout strength remains its solid metal build, relaxed highway composure and the unmistakable character of the J-series engine.” – Preetam Bora

Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Overview
Launched on September 1, 2023, as the final model in Royal Enfield’s 350 cc portfolio to move to the new J-platform, the latest Bullet 350 introduces its fourth-generation engine to the Indian market. It retains the familiar teardrop silhouette that has defined Indian motorcycling for generations. But don't let the old-school looks fool you; this is the modern J-series. These are the same bones we’ve praised in the Classic and Meteor. As Preetam Bora notes, “The bullet name is synonymous with the Royal Enfield brand itself in India... a model which is as much a part of culture and tradition, winning the hearts of generations of bullet lovers.”
For us, this shift means we finally get a chassis that doesn't feel like it’s fighting the engine. We also noticed a massive leap in how planted the bike feels. Whether we're weaving through morning traffic or settling into a 90 kilometres per hour cruise, the bike stays composed.
Watch: 2023 ROYAL ENFIELD BULLET 350 REVIEW: TIMELESS CLASSIC!
This review is based on the riding experience of Preetam Bora, Senior Two-Wheeler Journalist at car&bike. With over 20 Years of motorcycle testing experience, Preetam has evaluated everything from commuter bikes to multi-cylinder touring machines across Indian and international markets. Over the course of his career, he has logged well over 3,00,000 kilometres on varied road conditions.
For this evaluation, the motorcycle was ridden across city traffic, open highways, and uneven urban stretches to understand how it behaves in real-world conditions. The test included solo riding as well as short pillion runs to assess balance and comfort. The observations shared here focus on everyday usability, long-distance comfort, and practical ownership behaviour rather than just specification figures.
Royal Enfield has kept the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Pricing straightforward by making the choice purely about visual personality. After testing the range, we noticed that while the mechanics are identical, the choice of paint and trim in specific variants completely changes the bike's character.
| Variant | Best Suited For | Key Differentiators | Braking & Safety |
| Military Red/Black (Base Variant) | Budget-conscious purists | Solid colours, sticker-decals, chrome engine & exhaust, redesigned rear mudguard. | Single-Channel ABS (Rear Drum) |
| Military Silver | Entry-level style | Solid colours, sticker-decals, chrome engine & exhaust, redesigned rear mudguard. | Single-Channel ABS (Rear Drum) |
| Battalion Black | Traditionalists | Iconic bench seat, rectangular tail lamp, chrome components. | Single-Channel ABS (Rear Drum) |
| Standard Black/Maroon | Heritage lovers | Hand-painted gold pinstripes, 3D chrome badges, chrome engine/exhaust. | Dual-Channel ABS (Rear Disc) |

Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Performance
To understand the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Performance, we have to look past the 20.2 bhp peak power. The 27 Nm of torque arrives early at 4,000 rpm, which we found makes city overtaking effortless. This J-series motor departs from the age-old pushrod architecture of previous generations, adopting a Single Overhead Camshaft (SOHC) setup to reduce mechanical noise and performance loss.
Gearbox and Vibration Analysis
The biggest shift in character comes from the new five-speed gearbox and the addition of a primary balancer shaft. This J-series motor departs from the age-old pushrod architecture of previous generations; as Preetam explains, “This one does not get a push rod; it gets a timing chain, and it gets a single overhead cam. The refinement levels have improved.” Unlike the old UCE models, where finding neutral felt like a game of chance, we found these gearshifts to be slick and positive.

The vibrations are now remarkably well-contained. Even when we push the bike toward its 115 kmph top speed, the footpegs and handlebars remain largely calm. However, vibrations are not entirely gone; a slight mechanical buzz remains at higher revs, though it is no longer intrusive. For us, this refinement makes long-distance touring a much more viable prospect.
Vibration and Refinement Analysis
The most significant mechanical shift comes from the introduction of a primary balancer shaft. While the signature long-stroke character and "thump" are still very much intact, the vibrations have been significantly reduced across the rev range.
Few machines can replicate the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Design. It’s a marvel in metal. Looking at the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Exterior, there is a massive step up in fit and finish. The paint depth on the Standard Maroon is excellent, and the hand-painted pinstripes are a detail we never get tired of looking at. Preetam identifies the subtle visual shifts here: “Visually, the only minor differences with the classic are the badges, the design of the battery and air box covers and a single-piece seat.” Furthermore, the bike features a redesigned rear mudguard and tail light assembly, while the iconic badges now take pride of place on the fuel tank and side covers.
Key Dimensions
During our technical walkaround, we noted the following dimensions that define the Bullet’s stance:
- Wheelbase: 1390 mm(providing that stable, planted feel on the highway).
- Seat Height: 805 mm(allowing most of us to get our feet down comfortably. An optional low seat is available at 785 mm).
- Ground Clearance: 170 mm.
- Kerb Weight: 195 kg (A 9 kg increase over the outgoing UCE Bullet).
Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Technology and Features
We must be affirmative here: the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Tech suite is purposefully minimal. The bike prioritises mechanical honesty over gadgets.
Explicit Limitations to Be Aware Of:
- Instrument Cluster: Still largely analogue; lacks a gear position indicator and distance-to-empty readout.
- Lighting: Traditional halogen headlamp; no LED setup available.
- Connectivity: No Bluetooth or navigation as standard (Tripper pod is an optional accessory).
- Charging: Features a USB port for mobile charging, though tucked away.
- Tyres: Spoke wheels mean tube-type tyres, which we find less convenient during punctures.
After riding the bike across diverse terrains, we found the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Ride n Handling to be one of the most significant improvements of the J-platform. “The ride quality is plush, and over broken road surfaces, the bullet 350 remains planted and sure-footed,” observed Preetam. The combination of the new chassis and updated suspension allows the bike to glide over road imperfections that would have unsettled the previous generation.
Suspension Specifications
We’re working with a more robust hardware setup than before. Up front, we noticed the bike uses 41 mm telescopic forks with 130 mm of travel, which we found provides excellent damping without feeling overtly soft. At the rear, we have twin-tube emulsion shock absorbers featuring a 6-step adjustable preload. This setup ensures that the bike remains settled over broken patches and mid-corner bumps.
Braking Feel Analysis
The braking hardware has seen a major upgrade, particularly on the mid and top variants. The 300 mm front disc and 270 mm rear disc (on dual-channel variants) offer a bite that is reassuring rather than aggressive.
Our analysis shows that the braking feel is progressive; the lever doesn't feel wooden, and it lets us shed speed confidently in heavy traffic. The addition of dual-channel ABS adds a massive layer of reassurance, as we found it prevents lock-ups on greasy or dusty road surfaces without being intrusive. However, we must note that for the entry-level Military and Battalion variants, the 153 mm rear drum brake requires significantly more effort and space to bring the 195 kg machine to a halt.
In our test, we found the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Mileage to be remarkably consistent for a machine of this size and weight. While our short-term tests are stable, long-term usage over 3,000+ km (including 60 km daily commutes) shows a low of 31.5 kmpl and a high of 39.1 kmpl, averaging a reliable 36 kmpl.

Tank Capacity and Touring Range
The tank capacity is pegged at 13 litres. While this might seem modest for a cruiser, we found it perfectly suited to the bike’s dimensions. Based on our long-term evaluation and mixed riding cycles, we managed a practical touring range of approximately 400 kilometres on a full tank. For us, this means the Bullet can comfortably handle a full day’s highway ride with minimal anxiety about finding the next petrol pump.
Competitor Efficiency Comparison
| Motorcycle | Mileage (kmpl) |
| Royal Enfield Bullet 350 | 37 kmpl |
| Royal Enfield Classic 350 | 35 kmpl |
| Royal Enfield Hunter 350 | 36.20 kmpl |
| Honda CB350 | 35 kmpl |
| Yezdi Roadster | 30 kmpl |
The value here is in the metal and the badge. The Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Pricing to be competitive when we consider the exceptional resale value this nameplate carries in India.
Value Pick:
The Standard variant is the "Value Pick" of the range. While it costs more than the Military trim, the addition of dual-channel ABS and those iconic hand-painted pinstripes justifies the jump. It gives us the full, authentic Bullet experience and essential safety features at the Rs. 1.85 lakh mark.
Is the Top Model Worth It?
The Black Gold top model is worth it only if we prioritise a "factory-custom" aesthetic. Mechanically, it is identical to the Standard variant. You will be paying a premium for a high-quality matte black finish, a completely blacked-out engine, exhaust system, and wheels, and premium 3D copper-gold tank badges. If you want your Bullet to stand out at a bike meet with a modern yet regal look, it makes sense; otherwise, the Standard model delivers the same performance for less.
| Bullet 350 Variant / Colour | Ex-Showroom Price |
| Military Black | Rs. 1.62 lakh |
| Battalion Black | Rs. 1.62 lakh |
| Military Red | Rs. 1.63 lakh |
| Standard Black | Rs. 1.85 lakh |
| Standard Maroon | Rs. 1.85 lakh |
| Black Gold | Rs. 1.85 lakh |
Safety on the Bullet is about stable, progressive stopping power. The dual-channel ABS on the mid and top variants is well-calibrated; it doesn't intervene prematurely on dusty roads.

- Selling for lots of reasons2.0Black Gold(Petrol)It feels so outdated now, no matter how much I spend on repairs and upgrades. The issues just keep piling up. I’m honestly fed up and have decided to sell it. Once, the engine even caught fire, which was terrifying. On top of that, there’s this constant chain noise that never goes away, and the clunky gear change sound is really frustrating. Driving it in the city has become such a hassle, it just makes the experience worse.By Vartak SahuPosted on: Nov 25, 2024 05:12 PM00

The cushioned seat and wide handlebars reduce fatigue, even during extended journeys. - Classic Look with Modern Features4.0Standard Black(Petrol)The Bullet 350 gives you that classic cruiser feel but with modern upgrades. The disc brakes and alloy wheels add great control, and the torque is excellent for long rides. I also love the variety of colour options! This bike delivers on performance and looks. The engine power and torque make it perfect for long-distance touring, while the paint scheme and graphics give it a classic Royal Enfield feel.
