Highlights

Ever since its launch in 2010, Mahindra's off-roader - Thar - hasn't received any facelift. But the company seems to have been working on the updated Thar as some spy shots of the vehicle have now hit the internet.

On the outside, the 2015 Thar will feature new plastic, new front bumper, larger side-steps and an extended fender. Te rear profile, however, looks almost unchanged except for the new soft top which is slightly more tilted than the current model.

While the exterior changes are likely to be quite minimal, it is the cabin that receives most noteworthy changes. The spy shots suggest that the updated model will get a new dual shade dashboard with round and silver finished HVAC vents and a new instrument cluster.

The vehicle also gets a new steering wheel, revised handbrake lever and two cup holders near the gearbox.

Since there is no clarity or official word on the mechanical changes, it will be early to comment on that. The existing Thar comes with two engine options - a 2.5-litre DI and 2.5-litre CRDe engine capable of churning out 63bhp, 182.5Nm and 105bhp, 247Nm respectively. Both the engines are coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox and is available in 4x2 and 4x4 versions.

Since the vehicle looks almost ready, we can expect this to be launched anytime soon.
