Paris Motor Show 2016: Honda Civic Type R Prototype Unveiled

- This is just the prototype and not the production ready version
- The production ready version will be launched only next year
- It will be manufactured at Honda's UK facility at Swindon
Look at the front and you see a muscular bumper with a winged carbon-fibre splitter and a red accented line. The nose of the car also features an air scoop along with the 'H' badge. The LED headlamps get smoked lenses, which add character to the overall look of the Type R. What really catches the eye is the unique brushed aluminium effect colour scheme on the body.
Looking at the Type R from the side, one can make out the carbon-fibre side skirting running along the length of the wheelbase, which accentuates the sporty character of the car. The car is shod with 20-inch alloys wearing 245 section, high performance tyres.
(2017 Honda Civic Type R)Coming to the rear, once again, there is a carbon-fibre diffuser along with three tailpipes and a red accented line. The boot sees radically designed tail lamps and a spoiler as well.
There is no word on the engine specs but we believe that the engine will be an updated version of the 2.0-litre, 306bhp engine which currently does duty on the present gen Civic Type R.
The Civic Type R was a part of the same engineering programme as the other Civic models. It will be manufactured at Honda's UK facility in Swindon. The production model of the Type R will be going on sale in the second half of 2017. While there is no word on whether the Civic Type R hatchback will be coming to India or not, but Honda has said that model will be exported to many markets around the world.
