Tesla Model Y: Optional Feature Prices Revealed

After much back and forth, Tesla finally made its debut in India, opening its first showroom in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The American EV giant will, for now, only sell the Model Y electric SUV in the country, which can be had in two configurations- rear-wheel-drive (Rs 59.89 lakh, ex-showroom) and long-range rear-wheel-drive (Rs 67.89 lakh, ex-showroom). However, these are merely base prices of the model range, as the prices can go up depending on the options chosen by the respective customer. Here’s a better look at the list of options offered with the Tesla Model Y in India.

Exterior Colour

The Tesla Model Y is offered in a total of six colour options. However, for those of you seriously considering purchasing one of these EVs, it might be a bit of a bummer when you hear that only one colour option- Stealth Grey- can be had as standard with the vehicle. All other colour options will require you to pay a hefty premium on top of the ex-showroom price of the vehicle. Here’s how much extra you’ll have to shell out on each colour option:

Interior Colour

The Tesla Model Y can be had with either an all-black (left) or black-and-white (right) interior 

The Tesla Model Y, as most of you might already know, is offered with a very minimalistic interior, devoid of any buttons, with all controls based on a large 15.4-inch central touchscreen system, and an eight-inch rear touchscreen. As standard, the Tesla Model Y is only offered with an all-black interior colour scheme. The electric SUV, however, can also be specced with a black and white interior, which includes white seats and door trimmings. However, this comes at a cost, as the optional colour scheme for the cabin is priced at Rs 95,000.

Full-Self Driving Capability

Another one of Tesla’s benchmark features is the cars’ self-driving capability. However, this feature too is only offered as an optional extra for a hefty Rs 6 lakh. However, Tesla’s India website does specify that ‘the currently enabled features require active driver supervision and do not make the vehicle autonomous, and that the activation and use of these features are dependent on achieving reliability far in excess of human drivers'.
