Highlights

If the world were not too busy giving voice commands to Siri or Alexa on their phones, they'd realize that the same feature in their vehicles can make their life bliss! With natural language understanding technology, voice control is a brand-new voice user interface.

This interface is much more revolutionized and seamless than the past ones. More than the ability to pick up voice commands, its natural language understanding technology allows it to be surprisingly apt and accurate. You'll further understand this technology and how it works as you read on!

What is the Voice Control with Natural Language Understanding Technology?

Voice control uses voice commands to allow in-vehicle operation. This technology lets car owners seamlessly use several vehicle features without taking their hands off the steering wheel. You don't have to divide your attention between switching the playlist and driving anymore!

The best part about voice control with natural language understanding is that it improves the usability of age-old voice command technology by using voice recognition technology.

It analyses the driver's intention from random utterances. You can quickly and accurately control the in-vehicle features without speaking accurate or precise commands. This technology can significantly reduce the risk of incidents caused due to drivers' divided attention.

    How Does This Technology Operate?

The technology operates using innovative technology. Vehicles with this feature come with a personal assistance technology, which allows usage of in-vehicles features without any manual inputs. It enables the driver to perform quick actions with mere voice commands.

For instance, all you have to say in Nissan cars is “Hello Nissan” to activate the voice control. You can control features like the infotainment system, telephone, air-conditioning system, audio, and navigation with voice control.

The addition of natural language technology helps the system pick and act on vague commands. You don't have to offer proper orders like “set destination.” You can say “ABC café nearby,” and the navigation system will automatically do the job.

    System Mechanism for This Technology

The mechanism behind this technology is not very different from the traditional one. In Nissan's case, there is a personal assistance technology that controls the equipment in the vehicle. The system has a hybrid voice recognition function that has a dual-type of voice recognition engine.

This hybrid recognition system achieves accuracy and speed. The system will respond accurately and swiftly, even to simple utterances. On the other hand, the cloud voice recognition engine reverts to complicated commands through the telematics communication unit.

The Nissan Arya is one of the first models to adopt this technology. The voice command feature is a significant step towards enabling hands-free control for drivers!
