Highlights

  • The Ford Bronco EV was based on the Zero Labs electric powertrain
  • The powertrain is now offering more than 400 kms of range and 591 bhp
  • There will be many new models in 2022 based on this technology

Zero Labs has been at the forefront of helping users convert their classic cars to EVs and now it has detailed its third generation platform with close to 2,000 proprietary upgrades. Zero Labs is also based in California and has custom EV design technology which was founded in 2015.

"Many of our customers already have an EV as a daily driver but feel new plastic electric vehicles lack 'soul' or any connection to a personal history. Bridging the growing gap between modern electric cars, between the past you love, and the future we need is where we come in. Our new generation of classic electric vehicles is the best there is and built to last decades while simultaneously producing an extremely safe but covert electrical drive system," said founder and CEO Adam Roe whilst the introduction of the new platform.

In 2020, Zero Labs converted the first-generation Ford Bronco and Land Rover Series III into EVs using modern materials while maintaining the classic look of the iconic vehicles. This also included aerospace-grade carbon fiber and its own unique electric car platform. At the time what Zero Labs didn't reveal was that these conversions used the third-generation platform which has now been adapted for its customers.

Some salient features of this new platform include adjustable ride height control, auto-sensing rack and pinion steering, and one-pedal driving. Zero Labs has introduced an independent front and rear suspension and a 592 bhp dual-motor system which even promises 402 km of range. There is even an optional upgrade to level 3 DCFC and software upgrades in tow.

These upgrades will be applicable to the Ford Bronco, Land Rover Series IIIs, and Defender 110s. The production models will come in early 2022. Adam Roe has also revealed that there are plans for electrified classic sports cars, but he hasn't revealed when that will happen. It is working downwards from SUVs to pickups, t0 body on frame muscle cars, to unibody vehicles and coupes. It already has closed orders for 2022 and 2023 with an average $350,000 price.
