Actor Sanchari Vijay Passes Away Due To Bike Accident; Family To Donate Organs

Kannada actor Sanchari Vijay passed away after sustaining severe injuries in a bike accident on June 12, 2021. The 38-year-old was out with his friend Naveen to buy medicines on a two-wheeler on Saturday night. The bike skid and hit an electric pole, while the actor suffered severe brain injuries in addition to a subdural hematoma (brain bleeding). He underwent surgery for the same and was placed in the Neuro ICU with full life support. Vijay's friend also sustained injuries including a fractured leg but is said to be stable.

Kumar informed the media that the family has decided to donate the actor's organs. Sanchari Vijay's brother Siddhesh Kumar confirmed the news to the media. A TOI report quoted him saying, "The brain stem has stopped functioning, so we have decided to donate his organs. Vijay always believed in serving society, which we are fulfilling by donating his organs."

Earlier today, Apollo Hospitals, Bengaluru, issued a statement confirming that the actor was deeply unconscious and showing signs of brain failure. The family came forward and has consented for organ donation keeping in view the current irreversible brain damage.

"Neurologically he is deeply unconscious and is showing signs of brain failure. The family had come forward and consented for organ donation keeping in view the current irreversible brain damage. We will follow the guidelines as per organ donation protocol," read the statement.

The news has sent shockwaves across his fans and co-stars. Actor Sudeep was one of the first to announce Sanchari Vijay's death and tweeted a eulogy that read, " "Very, very disheartening to accept that Sanchari Vijay breathed his last." Sudeep, who had met the late actor before the lockdown, added, "Met him couple of times just before this lockdown... All excited about his next film that's due for release. Very sad. Deepest condolences to his family and friends. RIP."

Actor Danish Sait wrote, "How unfortunate is this. I just saw an article saying he was in the ICU, and now I read this. My condolences to Mr. Sanchari Vijay's family and friends. Rest in peace sir, your contribution to cinema will live forever."

Sanchari Vijay began his career in 2011 in the Kannada film industry with the film Rangappa Hogbitna. He went on to in movies like Dasavala, Harivu, Oggarane, Killing Veerappan, Varthamana and Sipaayi. The film Naanu Avanalla Avalu got the actor his National Film Award.
