If you want a vehicle solely for lap times or ultimate track sharpness, the lighter M340i sedan remains the better tool. But most buyers choose a convertible for the distinct style and special feeling it provides on the open road.

The M440i manages to offer that exact sense of drama while backing it up with serious mechanical capability. It is fast, highly stable, and surprisingly comfortable for a sports car. And if you can live with the small boot and tight rear seats, then yes, it offers an exclusive driving experience that normal luxury sedans cannot replicate.
