Volvo India has introduced a new variant to the top of the line XC90 SUV - T8 Inscription with a price tag of Rs. 96.65 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The luxurious SUV is built on Volvo’s modular Scalable Product Architecture.

Powering the top-of-the-line variant is a 2.0-litre, direct injection, four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 312 bhp. Along with the electric motor however, the XC90 T8 Inscription generates 398bhp of max power and 640Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission, with the power getting transferred to the rear wheels through the electric motor while the front is powered by the petrol mill.

Other variants in the line-up draw power from diesel engine mated to an auto unit. The luxurious SUV from the Swedish carmaker is available in three variants- Momentum, Inscription and T8 Excellence. Power comes from the 2.0 litre, In-line, 4 cylinder, Twim Turbo diesel oil burner that develops power in two tunes -225bhp and 402bhp. The 225bhp version powers the Momentum and Inscription trims whereas the top-of-the-line Excellence variant uses the 402bhp engine. There is a stark difference in the torque output of both the versions, the 225bhp engine develops 470Nm and the 402bhp unit makes 640Nm. All the variants are equipped with the eight-speed automatic transmission channelizing power to all four wheels.
