About FB Mondial HPS 300
Kinetic Group's MotoRoyale introduced the FB Mondial motorcycle brand in Indian and the Italian motorcycle maker has introduced its first offering for the country - the HPS 300. The FB Mondial HPS 300 is a 250 cc motorcycle, styled as a scrambler and will be assembled at MotoRoyale’s Ahmednagar facility in Maharashtra. The brand has had a roller-coaster ride ever since it was founded in 1936 and a rich racing history in the 1950s. The bike maker though was shut down in 1957 but was later resurrected in 2014 with two small capacity motorcycles. The newly launched HPS 300 is part of the same list and is currently the most affordable scrambler on sale in India. Here's all you need to know about the FB Mondial HPS 300.
FB Mondial HPS 300 Design and Styling
The FB Mondial HPS 300 is essentially a retro-scrambler that gets a minimalistic design and has been designed around a retro-theme. The motorcycle was first showcased at the 2017 EICMA Show and is based on the FB Mondial's HPS 125. The HPS 300 gets a chiselled fuel tank along with a flat seat and knobby off-road tyres that gives the bike proper old-school charm. The beefy full-length belly pan complements the slender tank, while the rear gets a skeletal tyre hugger, covering the chunky tyre with spoke wheels. The stubby tail section rounds off the design at the rear, while the high-mounted peashooter exhausts are worthy of special attention.
FB Mondial HPS 300 Features
The FB Mondial HPS 300 gets a halogen headlamp, LED taillamp and indicators, while the circular digital instrument cluster brings in the only visual modern element on the motorcycle.
FB Mondial HPS 300 Engine Specifications & Transmission
The FB Mondial HPS 300 gets a Piaggio-sourced 249 cc liquid-cooled, single- cylinder engine which makes about 24 bhp at 9000 rpm and 22 Nm of peak torque available at 7000 rpm. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike weighs about 135 kg, which theoretically should mean an incredible power- to-weight ratio.
FB Mondial HPS 300 Suspension
Suspension duties on the FB Mondial HPS 300 are handled by 41 mm inverted forks at the front and twin gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear. Both units come with 120 mm of travel.
FB Mondial HPS 300 Wheels, Tyres, & Brakes
The FB Mondial HPS uses an 18-inch wheel up front and a 17-inch wheel at therear with tyre sizes 110/90 R18 up front and 130/70/R17 at the rear. Both wheels are spoked units, keeping up with the retro charm on the motorcycle. Braking is taken care of by a 280 mm disc at the front and a 220 mm disc at the rear. ABS is offered as standard on the FB Mondial HPS 300.
FB Mondial HPS 300 Pricing & Competition
Kinetic MotoRoyale has introduced the FB Mondial HPS 300 priced at Rs. 3.37 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The price tag sure is expensive for a single-cylinder motorcycle but then the FB Mondial brand also brings exclusivity to the segment. With this price tag, the FB Mondial HPS 300 competes against the BMW G 310 R, KTM 390 Duke, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the likes in the segment.
