What's New?
The Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 stands out for its unique design style and minimalistic appearance. The quarter-litre scrambler-styled bike is a modern-day offering with an upright stance and tyres that can tackle mild off-road trails and regular roads alike. There is a standard bash-plate along with Bosch dual-channel ABS and full-LED lighting. The 250 cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder, four-stroke DOHC engine makes 29.50 bhp and 24 Nm at 9000 rpm and 7500 rpm respectively.
The Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 comes with a 6-speed gearbox and slipper clutch, similar to its rival, the KTM 250 Duke. The Svartpilen has a hydro-formed steel handlebar along with 43 mm WP USDs in front and a rear WP monoshock. There is a 320 mm front disc and 230 mm rear disc along with a lightweight trellis frame, complete with 17-inch alloy wheels. Kerb weight stands at 154 Kg for the bike. How is the design of Husqvarna Svartpilen 250?
The Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 looks impressive with its minimalistic design template and refreshing look. Svartpilen stands for Black Arrow in Swedish and pays tribute to the original Husqvarna Silverpilen two-stroke lightweight model in the 1950s and 1960s. The Svartpilen 250 has a modern edge to the otherwise old-school and charming design, complete with its round LED headlight and brushed metal finish for the plastic bodywork. The design is different from conventional naked sportbikes in the category.
How does the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 ride?
The Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 rides nicely with its high performing 248.8 cc engine and smooth shifting gearbox. The fit and finish are nice while the 17-inch wheels do their job consummately. The tyres have deeper treads while the bike feels rugged enough to ride off-road while being chic enough to swoosh across the city. The grab rail is the only negative aspect, looking out of place to an extent.
How comfortable is Husqvarna Svartpilen 250?
The Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 is comfortable enough for city rides with its dimensions being similar to the KTM 250 Duke. Yet, the seat height makes it a tall bike and this may be a slight hindrance for smaller riders. The kerb weight is manageable although this is not exactly a lightweight model. Riding ergonomics are sorted overall, making the bike a comfortable bet for city and trail riders alike.
How’s the tech?
The Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 comes with a single-pod LCD instrument cluster with a retro feel. This has all necessary readouts including those for odometer, speed, distance to empty, twin trip metres, clock and a rev counter. The dual-channel ABS is standard with an exclusive supermoto mode. This ensures switchable ABS for the rear wheel and a side stand indicator that kills the engine. Whenever riders accidentally use a gear with the stand down, this feature comes into play.
How’s the mileage of Husqvarna Svartpilen 250?
The Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 offers decent fuel economy of 35 Kmpl.
How is the performance of Husqvarna Svartpilen 250?
The Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 performs decently with its 248.8 cc engine that dishes out 29.5 bhp and 24 Nm at 9000 rpm and 7500 rpm respectively. The performance figures are decent enough from the DOHC liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine. The 6-speed gearbox functions smoothly, enabling a sportier feel overall.
Is the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 good value for money?
The Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 offers reasonable value for money, considering the competitive price tag and also the sporty engine. The power and torque figures are decent and so is overall mileage. The bike looks neat and charming while getting a nice feature list. Overall, it does seem to be a value proposition in its segment.
Pros
- Different, sporty design
- Decent pricing
- Decent features
Cons
- Rear grabrail doesn't gel well with overall design
- Performance not exciting enough
- Slight vibrations at top end
Verdict
As one of the first products for a completely new brand for India, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 certainly makes for a likeable motorcycle. Yes, the Svartpilen 250 may not be lightning fast or offer dollops of exciting performance, but it's easy to ride, feels well built, and definitely turns heads on the street. In our books, those are more than enough qualities to make the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 worthy of consideration.
