Introduction

Officially, Yamaha will finally introduce the iconic RX100 in India. The RX100 from Yamaha is legendary and revered. By itself, this bike revolutionized India's commuter culture and established standards for two-stroke bikes for several generations.

How is the design?

The new RX 100 plays on the heartstrings with nostalgia. The streamlined body is iconic and holds the patent Yamaha Look. The headlight is big with good luminosity. Foot pegs and a long-stretched seat provide is the same as before

How is the performance?

The RX 100's body is light-footed and has aircraft-like acceleration, hence the nickname "pocket rocket." In its 98-cc, mono chamber, the two-stroke air-cooled engine produced 10.39 Nm and 11 horsepower of force. The motorcycle didn't just run but instead zoomed over the streets because of its combination with a simple load of 98 kg making it the most convenient and economical 2-wheeler on the market with expected prices starting at Rs. 100000 (ex-showroom)

How does the Yamaha RX 100 ride?

The bike has been made for convenience and the luxury aspects are a bit limited. But the great powerful engine along with the shock-absorbing suspension makes for a comfortable ride on all terrains and is light and zippy providing the highest maneuverability.

How comfortable is the Yamaha RX 100?

The long-stretched seat provides ample seating area for the rider and pillion, and the foot pegs and stand are strategically placed. The bike comes with a back carrier that doubles as a place to hold on for the pillion. The manual transmission is smooth and the ride is aided by drum brakes which can be upgraded to disk.

How's the tech?

The tech is nothing fancy as expected in a convenience model of 100cc. But the bike houses an analogue speedometer, fuel, and RPM display with great viewing angles, the LED lights are expected to get better with this new release with the classic-looking head and tail lights patent to Yamaha.

How's the mileage of the Yamaha RX 100?

RX 100 has a 10.5-litre fuel tank and with a kerb weight of 103kg, gives an amazing mileage of 35-45 KM/L. The fuel economy of the bike is one of the best under 100 CC and makes for a very fuel-efficient and economical 2-wheeler option.

Is the Yamaha RX 100 good value for money?

The Yamaha RX100 has more to do with convenience and nostalgia rather than what is usually marketed in the new bikes in the segment. The price is a bit too steep for a bike that has nothing cutting edge to offer. But it is a good bike in all aspects and is amazing for daily city commutes.

How is the after-sales service?

Yamaha’s post-sale services are good and service centers are widely dispersed in all corners of the county making repairs and servicing easy along with cheap rates as leveraged by Yamaha.

Which motorbikes compete in this segment?

The below 200 cc market segment is very saturated with many players of which Yamaha RX 100’s biggest competitors are Bajaj pulsar 125cc and 150cc, TVS Raider and apache RTR 160 and the Honda SP 125.

Verdict (Value for money)

The Yamaha RX100 has more to do with economy and familiarity rather than with what is generally advertised in the new bikes in the sector. The price is a bit too steep for a bike that has nothing cutting edge to offer. However, it is an excellent bike in every way and is fantastic for daily city commuting with great maneuverability and comfort.
