About Yamaha Fascino 125
Yamaha Motor India has officially launched its very first 125 cc scooter in the country in the form of the Fascino 125 FI. The new scooter is priced from Rs. 70,000 (ex-showroom) onwards and replaces the 113 cc. The new Yamaha Fascino 125 FI gets a brand new Blue Core 125 cc single cylinder fuel injected engine that dishes out 8 bhp and 9.7 Nm of maximum torque. Yamaha has confirmed that the new engine comes with 30% higher power in comparison to the 113 cc versions while fuel economy stands at 66 Kmpl as per the claimed figure. This is considerably more fuel efficient in comparison to the 113 cc versions. The scooters also get start-stop systems along with traffic modes for easing crawling in congested city traffic. The scooter also makes use of a new lightweight frame while weighing only 99 Kg. This makes it lighter than the 113 cc version by approximately 4 Kg.
The scooter also gets a brand new start motor generator which ensures completely silent start for maximum ease and convenience. In comparison to the previous 113 cc version, the new Fascino keeps its retro-based design template along with metallic colour touches and sufficient chrome for a more premium touch. There are 12 inch alloy wheels along with the unified braking system or CBS which Yamaha calls it. The model gets side-stand cut-off switch in addition to foldable hook, multifunction key and USB charging among many other features.

Yamaha Fascino 125 Expert Review
Introduction
The new Yamaha Fascino 125 retains its retro-based design template and sports sufficient chrome and metallic colour touches to give a more premium touch. It is therefore a good value for money considering the excellent fuel economy of 66 Kmpl, along with a low kerb weight of below 100 Kg, ensuring better handling and performance. The engine refinement of the bike is excellent and it feels responsive. Overall, the Yamaha Fascino 125 is a value pick for customers.
How is the design?
The Yamaha Fascino 125 flaunts a design template which is highly unique, however, it feels slightly polarising. While some buyers might appreciate the design of this two-wheeler greatly, some might not. Over time, it is expected that the design will grow on the riders. Now coming to the key features that added to the uniqueness of this scooter: the chrome touches for the side panel and the apron, paired with the triangle-esque inverted headlight, and it perfectly complements the tail section which further extends outward. The tail section sticks out to the extent in which the number plate might not even be visible if someone stands in close proximity to the scooter. With attractive colour options and excellent road presence, the Yamaha Fascino 125 is on the bolder side.
How is the performance?
With the new created chassis, the Yamaha Fascino 125 is able to exhibit an impressive performance. The 125cc engine of the Yamaha comes with a better starter-motor, which ensures absolutely silent start. The fuel injected engine is able to produce a maximum power of 8Bhp and a peak torque of 9.7Nm. However, compared to some rivals, these figures are lower. With a kerb weight of about 99Kg, the scooter provides easy handling. The power to weight ratio of 82.82hp/tonne leads to an overall better performance, while it has also been reported that the Yamaha Fascino 125 can reach 80 Kmph in just 8.41 seconds. The roll-on acceleration timeline of the scooter, that is 4,57 seconds for 20-50km, and 10,52 seconds for 30-70 Kms, is quite impressive along with the highly-responsive engine.
How does the Yamaha Fascino 125 ride?
The ride quality of the Yamaha Fascino 125 could have been improved, especially at lower speed. The telescopic forks and monoshock are positioned on the firmer side, and although low-speed ride cannot be deemed as harsh, it is not very comfortable either. On picking up higher speed, the ride quality of the scooter improves to a great extent, even though it cannot match some of its rivals competing in the same segment. High speed stability and handling are decent, and cannot be labelled as the best in the segment. Overall, the braking setup of the Yamaha Fascino 125 is impressive, especially the front disc. The optional disc, however, lacks some more bite and sharpness.
How comfortable is the Yamaha Fascino 125?
The finish and fit of the new Yamaha Fascino 125 are similar to the previous model. The body panels and switches are positioned together, although it features a number of plastic panels as well. However, they do not rattle as much, and the front fender comes in a metal-based unit, which is impressive, but Yamaha could have improved the ergonomics to some extent. Coming to the footboard design, the aggressively slanted upward sweep of the bike’s footboard makes it difficult to accommodate people with bigger foot size comfortably. The handlebar of the Yamaha Fascino 125 is low-set and for people above 5ft and 8inches tall, it might graze the knees. The seat squab is positioned on the softer side, adding to the discomfort of riders.
How's the tech?
The Yamaha Fascino 125 comes with a set of decent features, suitable for its price and utility and these include the following:
- Speedometer-analogue
- Pass light
- Fuel Gauge
- SMG (Smart Motor Generator) System
- Bluetooth enabled Yamaha Motorcycle Connect X app
The scooter also features 12-inch alloy wheels, while getting the unified braking system or CBS. It also comes with a side-stand cut off switch along with a foldable hook, a multifunctional key, USB Charging Port, among some other features.
How's the mileage of the Yamaha Fascino 125?
A fuel economy of 66 Kmpl is delivered by the new Yamaha Fascino 125.
Is the Yamaha Fascino 125 good value for money?
It can be said that overall, the Yamaha Fascino 125 brings good value to its buyers considering its price, impressive fuel economy of 66 Kmpl, along with a 99kg kerb weight, which promises better handling and performance. The engine of this scooter has excellent refinement, and it also sports attractive colours and designs.
How is the after sales service?
Yamaha offers 5 free services for its Fascino 125. The first free service is provided by the company after 1000 Kms, or 60 days from the date of purchase, whichever is earlier. The second free service is offered after 4000 Kms, or 150 days, whichever is earlier, while the third free service is offered after 240 days or 7000 Kms, whichever is earlier. The fourth free service of the scooter is provided after 10,000 Kms, or 330 days, whichever is earlier and the fifth free service is offered after 13,000 Kms or 420 days, whichever is earlier.
Which motorbikes compete in this segment?
Some of the other motorbikes competing in the same segment as the Yamaha Fascino 125 include Honda Activa 6G, TVS Jupiter, Suzuki Access 125, Honda Activa 125 and so on.
Verdict (Value for money)
The Yamaha Fascino 125 is available in the market at an affordable price range, which is expected to deliver value to the buyers. Moreover, it comes with attractive colours and design, and equipped with a number of decent designs, and therefore it can be said that the Yamaha Fascino 125 is a good value for money, especially for daily commuters and young riders across India. Even though it offers only a decent level of comfort to the bikers, it is still a good choice for daily commuting. However, there are many other scooters in this segment, offering better features and comfort.
