Ather EL01

Introduction
- Ather unveiled the Concept EL01 last year.
- It is the first scooter based on its new EL platform.
- Designed as a more accessible offering, the EL01 will be manufactured at Ather’s new facility in Maharashtra.
- It is expected to launch around Diwali this year.
- It might also be the first Ather product to be priced well below Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom).
- While we expect it to have some overlap with the Rizta, the EL platform is positioned as a flexible base.
- So it might even spawn a new range of scooters with varying specifications.

Features & Equipment
- The Concept EL01 comes with a 7.0-inch display.
- However, the EL platform will support different size screens.
- These could range from a 5.0-inch TFT to a 7.0-inch full-touch dashboard.
- All depends on the variant as different prototypes have been spied testing.
- Nonetheless, a key innovation is the integration of the onboard charger with the drive controller.
- This removes the need for a portable charger and frees up underseat storage space.
- That said, the EL01 is unlikely to match the Rizta in terms of outright underseat storage volume.

Powertrain
- Scooters on the EL platform will accommodate batteries ranging from 2 kWh to 5 kWh.
- They will have the flexibility to use either nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) or lithium ferro-phosphate (LFP) cell chemistry.
- Ather has confirmed that EL-based products will not be as performance-focused as the 450 series.
- This indicates less powerful motors, also and ruling out the possibility of the platform being used for the next-generation 450.
- After all, Ather's emphasis will be on affordability and practicality rather than outright performance.
