Detail
Harley-Davidson India has added a new Sportster motorcycle to its line-up in the country with the introduction of the Forty-Eight Special. The new high-bar Sportster combines throwback styling trends from older custom motorcycles, along with that of the Sportster platform while being powered by the 1200 V-Twin Evolution engine. Bookings for the new Harley Forty-Eight Special are now open in the country, with 2019 marking Harley-Davidson's tenth anniversary in India. The Forty-Eight Special is priced from Rs. 10.98 lakh (ex-showroom), and is about Rs. 40,000 more expensive than the standard version.
Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight Special Design
The Sportster motorcycles at Harley have been reimagined time and again by both the company and the owners over the years. With the 2019 Harley-Davidson Forty Special, the manufacturer brings in a lot of elements like the blacked-out engine headcovers with the contrast chrome crankcase covers and slash cut exhaust tips with new chrome shields. The styling remains identical to the standard model with the 7.25-inch tallboy handlebar, compact fuel tank and a redesigned seat. The Forty-Eight Special is available in three colour options - red, white and black, while the throwback 70's custom art features on the fuel tank with a dark custom style.
Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight Special Instrument Console
The new Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight Special sports a semi-digital console mounted on the handlebar. The bike gets an electronic speedometer with odometer, time-of-day clock, dual trip meter, low fuel warning light, low oil pressure light, engine diagnostics readout, LED indicator lights and more.
Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight Special Engine
The powertrain on the Forty-Eight Special continues to be the same 1202 cc, air-cooled V-twin Evolution engine with fuel-injection from the standard version. The motor is tuned to produce 96 Nm of peak torque at 4250 rpm and is paired with a five-speed gearbox.
Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight Special Specifications
The Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight Special sports a 130 mm front tyre along with 49 mm forks up front with massive forged aluminium triple clamps, while the rear sports a pre-load adjustable shock absorber. The bike rides on split 9-spoke cast aluminium alloy wheels finished in gloss black. Braking performance comes from disc brakes at the front and rear with dual-piston calipers.
