Jaguar XJ

Jaguar XJ is the flagship luxurious saloon from the British marque in India. It positions itself in a niche segment where very few such cars are available in India. Power is sourced from petrol and diesel units with an option for an automatic transmission. It has brilliant exterior, luxurious interior and advanced features that make it a perfect model for the elite class.

The new Jaguar XJ was launched at a price of Rs 98.03 lakh (ex-showroom, pre-octroi in Mumbai) at the 13th Auto Expo. The saloon has received styling updates, additional kit and is claimed to deliver improved performance over the previous model. Under the skin, it gets an option between 2.0 litre petrol and 3.0 litre diesel engines that are paired to a standard automatic transmission. 

Jaguar XJ Exterior

Aesthetically, the new Jaguar XJ retains styling elements from the previous model with addition some new key features such as a more upright grille in front with mesh details, LED headlamps with new double J Blade signature LED lights and new elliptical LED tail-lamps. Jaguar claims to have made the exterior more aerodynamic as compared to the previous model.

Jaguar XJ Interior

Cabin arms a host of new features such as the new 31.24cm TFT instrument panel display, deployable rear seat entertainment system with 25.90-cm HD screens and InControl Touch Pro infotainment system. Along with the aforementioned features, it also gets quilted soft grain leather upholstered seats with three massage programmes and memory function, a panoramic glass roof, LED reading lights and tweaked navigation system. 

Jaguar XJ Engine Specifications & Transmission

Power is sourced from the 2.0 litre, petrol engine putting out 237bhp at 5500rpm and 340Nm torque at 1750rpm. Diesel variants use the 3.0 litre, V6 turbocharged unit making 297bhp and 700Nm of torque. Both the engines get an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Key in-cabin features on the saloon include 14 way adjustable seats with lumbar support, front seats with five massage programmes, heated front and rear seats and carpet mat set. Outside, it features LED headlamps with washers & LED signature lights, twin oval exhaust and chrome grille with chrome surround.

Jaguar XJ Performance & Mileage

As for the performance, the diesel engine propels to 100km/h from stand still within 6.2 seconds and petrol powertrain achieves it in 7.9 seconds. Coming to the fuel economy, the petrol engine is rated at 9.4km/l as opposed to the diesel engine claimed to return 14.47km/l.

Both the variants get 18 inch sparkle silver finished alloy wheels in two different styles-Meru and Manra.
