Passenger Vehicle (PV) sales is back on the growth track in October after witnessing a slump in the previous month. The PV segment recorded a marginal growth of 1.55 per cent in October selling 284,224 units in the domestic market compared to 279,877 units in the same month last year. The major gainers in October are utility vehicles (UV) which posted a growth of 3.90 per cent at 82,414 units compared to 79,323 units in October last year followed by vans segment which grew at 3.55 per cent selling 16,410 units in October against 15,848 units in the corresponding month last year. However, the growth of passenger cars in the same month was nominal at 0.38 percent selling 185,400 units against 184,706 units in the same month last year.
The Duster was the brand that helped the Renault to settle its foot in the Indian market. Back in 2012, when the Duster was launched in India, it was well-received in the market as Renault had the first mover advantage. However, with the growing competition the Duster has lost its sheen. The production of the 85 BHP Renault Duster diesel has been officially stopped two months ago due to supply constraints and weakening demand, and the French carmaker at present is not accepting the bookings for the same.
Mahindra's latest launch- the Marazzo will now be equipped with Apple CarPlay. The MPV was launched in India on September 3 and it's infotainment system was Android Auto compatible. Mahindra has sold over 4500 units of the Marazzo so far which will be updated with the Apple CarPlay without any additional cost.
According to the Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles (SMEV), in FY 2017-18 the sales of electric cars came down to 1200 units from 2000 units in FY2016-17 recording a slump of 40 per cent. The sales were flat at 2000 units in FY2016-17.
Tata Motors has been revealing details about the upcoming Harrier compact SUV for some days and carandbike can now exclusively confirm that the company will start accepting the bookings for it on 15 October 2018. S N Barman, Vice President, Sales & Network, Passenger Vehicle Division, Tata Motors has confirmed the news to carandbike saying, -We will start accepting bookings for the all-new Harrier for an amount of Rs. 30,000.- Further sharing details about the pricing and deliveries, Barman added, -We are evaluating an introductory price for the Harrier when we will launch the SUV in January 2019 and we are also planning to start the deliveries within a month of the launch.-

The AH2 is Hyundai's 'work in advance' as eventually the entire entry segment will need to be upgraded to comply with the upcoming stringent safety norms. Hence, it's been built safer and a notch premium than the Eon and is expected to replace it in Hyundai's line-up to be the entry segment car. Instead of Eon's PA platform, the AH2 has been developed on Hyundai's more rigid HA platform that also underpinned the i10.
