BMW F900R Latest Updates

BMW Motorrad is expected to bring the new BMW F900R middleweight motorcycle to India. The company revealed the forthcoming motorcycle alongside F900XR at EICMA last year in Milan, Italy. The all-new motorcycle from BMW Motorrad sports a new 900 cc parallel-twin engine, which is a bored-out version of unit seen on the BMW F850GS. The new F900R is more of a street-oriented roadster, which is based on the bigger BMW S1000XR. On the other hand, the F900XR is also based on the bigger BMW S1000XR that is positioned as a sport-touring model.

The company has lifted the frame from the BMW F850GS, which has been tweaked to provide a slightly shorter wheelbase, whereas the subframe is slimmer too. The F900R features a 13-litre fuel tank whereas the F900XR has a 15.5-litre fuel tank. The fuel tank is made from welded plastic.

Coming to the mechanicals, the engine has a bigger 86 mm bore, with stroke remaining the same 77 mm. The unit belts out a maximum power of 105 bhp at 8,750 rpm with peak torque of 91 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The new powertrain also gets two balancer shafts ensuring reduced vibrations.

The BMW F900R gets two riding modes as standard – Road and Rain. Additional features that will be seen on the motorcycle are ABS, traction control and full-colour TFT dash, with Bluetooth integration. The Rider can manage the electronics as well as navigation along with entertainment systems from the left handlebar.

The top-spec version of the motorcycle also gets semi-active suspension, cornering ABS, keyless ignition, an up/down quickshifter, engine drag torque control and much more. The bike will offer suspension travel of 142 mm up front, with 172 mm rear travel. Front brakes use 320 mm twin discs, with four-piston radial calipers.
