Jaguar F-Pace

Jaguar’s premium SUV, F-Pace redefines style and comfort with its super luxurious cabin equipped with avant-garde features. Power is sourced from 2.0 litre, Ingenium and 3.0 litre, V6 diesel engines. Transmission duties are carried out by 8-speed ZF transmission directing power to all four wheels via an AWD system. Jaguar will add a petrol unit to the line-up early next year.

Available in India via CBU route, Jaguar F-Pace price starts from Rs 68.40 lakh and goes up to a whopping Rs 1.12 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top-spec variant. Jaguar is expected to bring the CKD unit next year and a petrol unit is likely to be added to the range around February 2017. Under the skin, the premium SUV gets an option between 2.0 litre, Ingenium diesel engine putting out 180bhp and 3.0 litre, V6 engine producing 300bhp. An eight-speed ZF is mated to the engine and drive is sent to all four wheels via an AWD.

Carrying Jaguar DNA, F-Pace has inherited staple design elements seen on saloon siblings. In front, it sports the J-shaped DRLs, LED head-lamps and the mesh grille also looks familiar. Taking into account that it is a SUV, it Jaguar has given a different treatment to accentuate the buff character. Look from the side is equally impressive with high shoulder line, supporting creases and 19 inch alloy wheels blending in well with the imposing stance. Rear is styled tastefully; it sports stylish LED tail-lamps reminiscent of F-Type. The sloping roofline and steeply raked in rear spoiler add to the visual appeal.

Jaguar F-Pace Interior

The interior is well-laid out and reminds of popular saloon siblings like the new XE and XF. The design is modish and use of top notch material inside further bolsters the premium look. From the context of storage, it provides ample space (around 650 litres) which can further be expanded to 1740 litres by folding the 40:20:40 seats. Integrated with a bunch of in-cabin tech, it gets a tablet-like touchscreen infotainment system with swipe and pinch action and navigation system. 

Jaguar F-Pace Engine Specifications & Transmission

Mechanicals powering the F-Pace include two oil burners- the 2.0 litre unit and a higher capacity 3.0 litre engine. Talking about the 2.0 litre engine, it develops 180bhp and 430Nm of top torque and is claimed to achieve the 100k/h mark within 8.7 seconds while offering top speed of 200km/h. The 3.0 litre, V6 powertrain pumps out a robust power output of 300bhp and 700Nm of torque. It does the 0 to 100km/h stint in a slick 6.2 seconds while attaining a top speed of 241km/h.

Fitments used on the exterior profile are adaptive LED headlamps with LED ‘J’ blade DRLs, fog lamps in front & rear and LED tail lamps. It also gets fixed sunroof, sliding panoramic roof, auto diming heated wing mirrors with retractable function, roof rails etc. Inside the cabin, Jaguar F-Pace packs 10 way adjustable electric front seats with memory function and 4-way lumbar support. Other features on the SUV include electrically reclining seats and electrically adjustable steering wheels etc. The SUV also gets some equipment that aid driving dynamics, these are-cruise control & speed limiter, all surface progress control, hill launch assist, speed proportional steering, torque vectoring by braking, dynamic stability control and traction control.

Jaguar F-Pace Performance & Mileage

The fuel economy for the 2.0 litre diesel engine is rated at 18km/l and the 3.0 litre unit is claimed to return 15km/l.

Jaguar F-Pace Accessories & Infotainment

A 12.3 inch HD virtual instrument display & 10.2 inch touchscreen is integrated inside. It also sports vital infotainment features including a head-up display, Incontrol Touch Pro Meridian digital surround sound system with navigation and Apps. Dynamic volume control & AM/FM radio, Bluetooth telephone connectivity & Bluetooth streaming are other features packed inside. 

Jaguar F-Pace Braking & Handling

Braking force is drawn from ventilated disc brakes at front axle and disc units at rear axle.

Jaguar F-Pace Safety & Security

It gets multiple airbags for driver, co-passenger and occupants seated at rear. Other than these, it also comes with emergency brake assist & hazard lights under heavy braking, perimeter sensing alarm & immobilizer, seat belt reminder in front & rear and ISOFIX.

As for the comfort provisions, F-Pace equips a number of goodies such as gesture tailgate, front & rear parking aid, rear view camera, surround camera, park assist linked to 360 parking, 360 parking aid, Jaguar Smart Key System with keyless starting & keyless entry, valet mode and activity key. 

Jaguar F-Pace Wheels & Tyres

It gets multiple options for the alloy wheels, the lightweight 18 inch, 15-spoke wheels are standard on entry level trims and they also get an option for the 19 inch 5-spoke unit. The Bionic 5 twin-spoke 19 inch alloy rims are equipped in the mid-level variant and the range-topping variant gets the 20inch 5 twin-spoke alloys.

Jaguar F-Pace Competition

The first luxury SUV from British car marque Jaguar faces stiff competition from BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Porsche Cayenne in the segment.
