Cons
- The small LCD instrumentation looks outdated and is difficult to read under harsh sunlight.
- A gear-position indicator on the console should have been standard by now.
- The overall braking response is not as expected of a front and rear disc brake setup.
- This engine’s power output is not exciting and runs out of breath post 85 kmph.
Verdict
The Yamaha FZ Rave is a sober approach to update the legendary FZ just enough to keep the bike relevant and intact. You see, Yamaha knows it has a proven mechanical package in play. Instead of chasing performance excitement updates, they’ve given it a fresh face and sticker job.
What you need to watch out for are the dated instrument console and improper braking performance. These are weak links in an otherwise strong package. But the thing is, if you want a straightforward, good looking and practical commuter, the FZ Rave fits the requirement.
