Bangalore-based Ather Energy has discontinued its entry-level 340 electric scooter. The company took to its social media channels to announce the development and the scooter has also been delisted from the company's website as well. Explaining the decision, the manufacturer said that the Ather 340 had dismal demand over the flagship 450. The latter grabbed 99 per cent of the orders despite the high pricing. Post the GST reduction in August this year, the Ather 340 was priced at Rs. 1.02 lakh, while the Ather 450 retails at Rs. 1.13 lakh (all prices, on-road Bangalore).

The Ather 340 is the latest electric scooter from Bengaluru-based tech start-up Ather Energy, which was started by two college friends from IIT, Madras five years ago.

Ather Energy today announced the launch of their charging infrastructure, AtherGrid, in Bengaluru. The company plans to have 30 charging points across Bengaluru by the end of May 2018, these new charging station will cater both electric two-wheeler and electric four-wheelers.

Bengaluru-based electric start-up, Ather Energy has announced that pre-bookings for the S340 electric scooter will commence from June, 2018. Bookings will begin only in Bengaluru initially, while launch details in other cities will be announced towards the end of the year. The announcement comes after two years since the concept prototype was originally showcased, while the overall development period has been of a little over four years. The S340 originally supposed to go on sale in 2017.
